I've always been moved by all of Shaxx's speeches in the subclass quests. When you first meet him, even in year one, he seems to be this towering juggernaut who gets his kicks out of squeezing the life out of hostile aliens and watching Guardians vaporize each other with their Light in the crucible. Then you hear him talk about the old days. "I liked those villages..." He says that with what sounds like sentimental nostalgia, and it demonstrates a dynamic to Shaxx that makes him far more human beneath his hulking Guardian exterior. I notice this as well when he talks about Guardians asking him "what should we fight for?" And he replies, "how about peace? How about a city without fear." He says this not with the force and fire of the furious paladin of the City and veteran of Six Fronts, but with that gentle, sentimental tone that one would use to intimately (platonically) share a deepest-held belief. There is a gentle, sensitive emotion that he shelters behind his Titan exterior. I think he deeply cares about the individual people of the City, far more than any other Guardian.

Unless his dead body was a simulation. It isn't just him lying dead some place, the entire level is built around a giant crypt of Vex design where he is floating. Interestingly enough the fact that his dead body has light around it makes it MORE likely that he is a simulation, because the Vex don't understand how the light or darkness work, and a guardian with light is a guardian that is still alive and can't die.

I don’t think any one realizes, that those music boxes used to control the Vex, that Rasputin uses to control them. Is a major clue to the true Origin of the vex. Don’t forget that he has control of Siva just the same. What if, Siva is just a young primitive version of the Vex. Consume , Enhance, Replicate. + Time Travel = Vex.

Thanks Byf, I love how you combine all the lore in both games to help discover the stories hidden within the game. Am finding the scannables and reading the lore tabs but it really helps to have the holistic look as I am not familiar with D1 lore. Hearing again the story of her throwing Saladin after arc 3.0 makes me wonder what if we had "Super combo". they both used arc and she basically used gathering storm but she through Slading instead of a staff and Saladin obviously used fist of havoc and so the thundercrash was created. But what if a hunter and a titan could combine their supers for an evolved thundercrash?

Because they can't simulate the light, they haven't been able to replicate guardians reliably, giving us "free will" in a sense. That's the only reason humanity still lives. If you watch the opening cinematic of Curse, then you'll notice the guardians in it. Apparently, *minor spoilers* It was a simulations, which means the vex in the forest were getting close to simulating light, which is the biggest reason Osiris asked for our help.

let's differentiate the term SIMULATE and EMULATE first. In the cutscene, the Vex were EMULATING a raid in the vault of glass, they saw the guardians use that specific ability so they included it inside the infinite forest. Think of it as watching a recording, they can't tweak parameters, only work with what they have. Yet the abilities the guardians use in that EMULATION is only a fraction of what the light really is capable of. (Think of making your own Bigmac at home, it's never gonna be the real thing you buy from Mcdonalds) SIMULATING is the Vex creating something out of thin air and THEN studying how they can change certain outcomes. The Vex cannot simulate light, therefore, they cannot put in new information unless we already give them a specific recording. Now you might ask, "Tons of guardians are now entering the forest, they have enough data to study us", while this is true, it is assumed that every strike mission we do is SUCCESSFUL. We defeat the Vex every single time, and since they cannot change the outcome, only replay it, it is pretty much useless data.

There was a few lines your ghost had in the "Garden World" strike. Sagira mentions to ghost it was asleep. He in return says he saw dark and the traveler and the traveler was so small. Seems like there may be something more there with regards to the mystery of the Traveler.

Its October 2020. Beyond light is less than a month away. We've learned so much about felwinter. Guardians are reaching a breaking point with the light and dark. Efrideet and her colony are something the game hasn't touched on, but could be something amazing in the the next 2 years to come, or even a potential destiny 3 if we move beyond our system if the darkness achieves victory. I look forward to bungie pulling this out again and hope they build on the lore they have already built upon in the game......

I'm SO happy that she came back! I LOVE Efrideet! As a Hunter main and self-proclaimed sniper (in PvE, at least) myself, she is likely my favorite Iron Lord, and one of my favorite characters in Destiny lore. The fact that Bungie made her a pacifist in the Rise of Iron story irked me a little bit. I had hoped we would see her in combat, see her aid us in battle, even just see the glint of her scope in the distance as she covered us from afar. No, we just got a terribly short cinematic of her return, and her lovely voice in the Iron Temple as she officiated the Iron Banner. Hell, we don't even know what she looks like, and even Saladin took off his helmet in that expansion! But, I digress. I'm so happy that she returned to the City in its defense, and I'm SO happy that she took up arms once more. Her skills as a sniper are legend, and as one of the last Iron Lords (pretty much just us, the "canon" player Guardian, Efrideet, and Saladin), her legacy is one of the greatest in the Destiny universe. I hope we meet again.

I just beat one of the mercury adventures which takes place on past mercury, after the mission you can travel back through a vex gate, so I explored the area and I heard some wildlife in the background. Hello BYF, great video as always, a pleasure to watch and quite interesting, keep it up I have recently really been looking forward to your content despite not being too deep/connected in the lore. You are too generous in my opinion, to eager to give guardians the title of “Legends” don’t get me wrong efrideet is impressive and no less than an icon to the masses least not hunters. But in a world of space magic and omnipotent beings is legend status really that hard to come by. I’d say there are no more than a dozen legends in the destiny universe. Saint 14 to name 1. Byf could you investigate a certain line said by our ghost during the mercury strike to defeat the root mind, I dont remember the exact quote but its our ghost talking about being "dead" when sagira takes over the shell and how he saw the traveler being tiny.
