As usual, Alan, I would rather be where you are doing what you are doing. Here, its "cooled off" to 34℃, which, sadly to say, is about 3-5℃ cooler than it has been. I really do enjoy cruising with you vicariously and hope you allow me/us all to continue. My very best to you. Zach

Thanks very much Zach. For me now, the cruising season is drawing to an end, so it will be short trips out. I’ve got a number of videos lined up though, so have got a lot of editing to do. Cheers. All the best. Alan

A really enjoyable vlog, thank you. The spot you moored to check the camera looked stunning, loved the trees and all the greenery along the canal. Thanks for the duckling shot...superb...another great mooring spot....:)

Thank you very much Jane. I moored, just up from the tunnel to check the camera. I thought the duckling bobbing under the water was quite cute.

Hi Alan good to see you cruising on some decent weather . I fetched my boat back from Sileby on Monday which was ok but on Monday night it started raining and the flood gates were closed and I would have been stranded again. If there's one thing I've learnt it's keep the boat stocked up with everything. Thanks.

A nice turn on to the Leicester line there Alan. It's a little sharp from that direction if I recall correcty. Great vlog despite your camera problems. I hope it's not too expensive to repair.
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave. You’re correct it does turn back on itself but it’s very wide at that point. Not had any problems with the camera since, so no repair needed just an intermittent fault. Cheers

Lovely weather Alan, you may as well enjoy the countryside before you have to get back to the marina. You seem to have had a good time on this cruise, enjoy yourself mate

Loved the real time journey through the locks. The camera angle was great. How do people choose marinas? How do the mushroom caps work?
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynn. Thanks for your lovely comment. Regarding choice of Marina, things to be considered will include location, layout, facilities, cost to moor. The mushroom vents are above holes in the ceiling. Each hole has a round mesh type cover. If it rains really hard, it is possible for water to splash up under the mushroom and enter the boat. This is though unusual. Hope that helps.

Might have a bit of fluff in your memory card slot. I'd get a can of compressed air and give it a quick blast out.

Hi Chris. That’s a good thought but it’s worked perfectly since then, so a very intermittent issue. Thanks Alan

Why did they let 8 boats down the lock, before letting you go up? it seems like a waste of water.
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sally. This is a flight of staircase locks. From the top one single lock, 4 connected locks and then 2 separate locks with pounds in between. The locks are managed by volunteers and this is where I volunteer. It’s not easy to cross boats, which are generally dealt with, in the order they arrive. Sometimes there are more going down than up. The lockies have to consider how best to manage, given the circumstances at any time. Water management is done by the way the locks are operated. Hope that explains to some extent.

Nice vlog again! The scenery when you were about 1.5 miles from Watford Lock was very pretty. I’ve never seen a covered personal dock like you captured right before bridge 7 I think it was? The angle of that train shot passing over/near the walking bridge was great👍🏻 never realized how narrow the locks are in the Watford flight 😳 that was another interesting camera angle
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 жыл бұрын
Hi Debbie and thanks for your lovely comment. I believe that covered dock is part of the Marina facilities, it might even be a dry dock where a boat can be worked on under cover. Many locks are single width like those at Watford, especially in the Midlands area, the exception being the Grand Union Canal which has double Locks. Other canals with double locks are the Kennet & Avon in the South and several to the North in the Liverpool/Manchester area and beyond.
