Evening Alan and Sally, its a lovely cruise up through to Rugby and beyond, so glad you both seemed relaxed and recovered. My word, one of those boats that came towards you was travelling far to quickly, what an ignorant person at the helm. Really enjoyed watching...🍷🍷

Evening Steve, it was a relaxing cruise for us. There was a time when I would slow down passing approaching boats but I’m finding it best to maintain my speed to overcome their wash! I’d say he was in a hurry to get somewhere. Glad you enjoyed this episode 🤠🥂

Another lovely vlog Alan & Sally ❤, Sally is definitely doing really well in her canal lock(s) apprenticeship 🌟. Loved the shot of the cows knee deep in the canal too😊😂. Safe travels xx

Nice video thank you. As a non-boater it's really interesting to see how you operate the locks safely and navigate with consideration to other boaters, both moored and mobile.
@MyNarrowboatVenture2 күн бұрын
That’s very kind of you to say, whilst I’m not giving instructions, as such, I like to show what’s involved going through locks, as many boat tubers show arriving and leaving, but not the in between actions. All the best.

Uneventful? Apart from feeding ducks with bread!. You need to educate your partner, because she clearly has no idea about wildlife conservation.
@MyNarrowboatVenture3 күн бұрын
@@gordonburns8731 There are differing opinions on this. These ducks came to the boat presumably because they were hungry and were given a small amount of bread, which is not harmful to them. That is better than letting them go hungry.

Nice to see it was a less eventful cruise for you both. I know this stretch pretty well and enjoyed going through the Hillmorton lock flight. Lovely to see it again Alan 👍

Hi Paul, it was a relaxing cruise without any issues. I find going through Hillmorton locks very pleasant, I suppose there’s less risk of delay with twin locks and being single width, makes them quicker to get through. Cheers🤠
@paulturner78376 күн бұрын
@ yes they do fill much quicker. I remember one of them being out of order when we passed through. Were they all operational for you?

Hello Alan, just wanted to say that around @22:10 - @22:15, with the other boat coming out of the lock, it gives a great perspective of just how much of a drop it is between the upper and lower ends of the locks. Especially as you're walking around to face back towards your boat. Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Hi Roger, I’m glad you found this episode of interest. Hillmorton locks are a standard sort of depth I would say, some locks are much deeper. All the best Alan

Hi Beverley, the boat to which you refer was in a different vlog, I remember it well, as I met the owners at the Crick Boat Show and by chance, passed by it a few weeks later. Hope you’re keeping well.

Alan, you (and a thousand others) are not doing the ducks any favors by feeding them white bread. In fact, it can be harmful to them (making it better to feed them nothing). If you don't want to go so far as to purchase formulated duck food, at least consider cracked corn, oatmeal or chopped veggies.
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 күн бұрын
I don’t tend to feed ducks, so there’s nothing special onboard for them. We’ll certainly bear in mind what you have said.

Reggie will be seen briefly in the next video, and he’ll be seen more in the one after that, as we go for a walk. When we’re cruising he’s inside the boat, as he sleeps a lot 💤

Thanks for your appreciation Raymond. Unfortunately it was all we had on the boat. I believe uneaten bread can cause wider issues in the water and on land!

I don't think Sally enjoys doing the locks.
@MyNarrowboatVenture5 күн бұрын
She does actually, she’s learning about different types of ground paddle. The safety catches at Hillmorton work differently to many locks.
