Jealousy windows are difficult to open and the glass panels breaks easily. You almost have to have spare glass panels in case some panels break. Almost all the houses built in the Philippines in the 50s to the 70s had these type of windows. The new ones are Upvc and some prefer vinyl. Aluminum frames on windows will corrode over time.

Another great video, James! Thank you! Personally, I would've spent a bit more on insulated windows for the rooms with ac. Jalousie windows have come a long way but still inefficient. On the other hand, Romeo's home is looking great! You really notice the difference in quality when a contractor is building their own home. I'm looking forward to your next update and hopefully you get to chat with Romeo next time.

Thank you sir for another great video. We just bought property in the Philippines and have been getting building quotes. Looks like we wont be building anytime soon. The prices are crazy. They want to build our wall at a cost of more than we paid for the land. Wait...
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Жыл бұрын
Yes, walls these days cost more than P1m if the lot is something like 750 sqm or more. Concrete and steel reinforcement raw material costs have really gone up over the past 2 years.

Nice to see a single level homes. Prepared for the future when stairs are out of the question. Not sure why, but the architectural design surprises me in the Philippines. Also nice not to see corner columns/support’s protruding in the corners or along the walls of the rooms as seen in many homes. I thought I remember seeing water catchment and storage on some homes. Big backyard on home two. Swimming pool, garden?

Hi James, we were so hoping to have our windows and sliding doors done prior to our departure in April 30, alas further delays. Some installed some glass on Wednesday, frustrating as this has been two supplies and 4 months. Slowly we are getting there. That being said if you and Ness still have time to travel this way for a few hours this week we’d love to have you. Otherwise we will hook up again in January when we return

I have a question about the solar systems that you have worked with, rather or not that those systems would support also a normal sized dryer or two for laundry operations?
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Жыл бұрын
Our solar system handle our washer/dryer combo without any problem. A hybrid system like ours will always handle your load because if your solar or battery battery will not have enough power to satisfy the load it will get whatever it needs from you public utility company.

Another great video showing two very beautiful houses. The construction method used by Romeo is it restricted to single story or can it go higher outside the likes of a sub division like your area?

I love that idea of cement Board Forms, poured in place walls verse traditional hollow block, but you never answered my question from when Romeo started the Project. Can this type of Cement Board Form support a second floor? Is it structurally strong to bare that weight load?
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Жыл бұрын
Romeo only started this project at the beginning of the year so he's only about 4 months into the project. And yes, form board construction can be on as many floors as you wish to build as these are not load bearing. The beams and columns are load bearing.

Glenn’s house is beautiful. Will it have a pool? It needs Solar. IMHO, it’s crazy not to use Solar here bc the break-even timeframe is so short.
@MyPIDream

I don't think they have enough available space for a pool but I'm sure solar is in his future. Agree solar is a must in the Philippines.
