Each time I see updates on builds using fiber boards, it makes me happy that I chose this medium to build our future home.

Very interesting construction technique. Be interesting to see how the electric is going to be run inside the walls.

That is amazing to use that material as the final wall substrate that holds the caste concrete between. What a great idea! I am sure it helps speed up the building process to not have to come back and render each wall and smooth it out before skim coat. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice home and also very big I especially like the Huge open space which is may be the reason why he is using the 16 mm rebar to support the huge roof beam that will be with no support in the middle Keep on the good stuff

Wow that would be my ideal layout for a place in the Philippines !!! Really can’t wait to see the final result on this one. The new wall system certainly looks like a great way to speed up the construction! Stay safe👍🏻

You should do a video of the walk you used to when you were building your house . This one reminded me of that time . I wonder if things have changed and if some of the people you met along the way are still around ?

i love the feeling of space but in practicality it cause huge issues with cooling the space, you either spend huge amount of money to power it or you don't do it and the space becomes unusable. We had similar issue with our build our lounge is huge and we can't keep it cool enough to make it usable for non-locals. The locals can deal with the heat but expats not so much!

Hi James Idk if you remember me? I am one of you avid fans😁 If you have a slot here in your House Builds series maybe you can pay mine a visit it is located in Ponte Verde Sto Tomas. Remember I told you I am planning to build my retirement house there? Well it’s now under construction, it actually started last October 15, 2023. Let me know if you can include it so I can give you more details.

James, how often do you guys come back to the US. We just recently got stationed at MCAS Cherry Point.
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Жыл бұрын
We normally try to visit each year but no plans so far for our next trip back to SC. I'm sure MCAS Cherry Point will be an outstanding assignment as it being on the coast of NC and similar to the coast of Charleston which is a beautiful place to call home. Good luck with the new assignment and thank you for your service!

Always a helpful video and discussion on home builds in the Philippines. Question James, do you have a name or contact information of the concrete board material retailer in the Philippines? It looks like it’s a lot easier to transport than AAC blocks to the provinces Leyte). Thanks for your channel as always. 👏🏻👏🏻

Contact Romeo Nocete. I'm sure he would be willing to share his source of supply for the AAC blocks. facebook.com/Caribbeanconstructions/

At minute 3:00 I can see pipes or tubes in the columns. Are they for the rainwater? I'm asking that, because I'm pretty sure that tubes in poured concrete and load bearing columns violate the build code.

All electrical conduit and plumbing PVC/PPR are concealed within the concrete walls/slabs in the Philippines and considered SOP.

If memory serves me the regulations state in most area, any columns for a house need to be 16mm not 12mm!!
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Жыл бұрын
There is no one fit all size for steel reinforcement. Structural engineers consider many variables before approving plans and refer to each country's structural design standards for reinforced concrete. What I've observed here in the Philippines, 12mm on single story bungalow type house construction is typical and 16mm has been reserved for multi level projects with increased load bearing. I'm not a structural engineer by trade so I rely on the experts to follow code.

I haven't spoken with the owner or contractor about the cost of this unit but I would estimate ~P20m-P22m. This would include the fencing around the property.

Are they using hardy board to form up the walls and what thick
@MyPIDream
@MyPIDream Жыл бұрын
It's not Hardy Board. The cementitious board stays in place after filling with cement and is the finished board becomes the wall.
