Roger from Utah makes an inquiry about the sealant, or caulking, that is used on RV’s. Darren provides some information about the caulking that he uses for different parts of RV’s (e.g. roofs, windows, vents, etc.)
Rick writes in from Michigan with an RV Water Heater question. He wants to know how often the check valves on water heaters go bad and need to be replaced? Darren discusses some aspects of RV water heater check valve operation and how to use them and discusses how to keep them from going bad and needing replacement.
Tip: They will work for many years, given that your RV’s water heater is serviced and backflushed annually.

My travel trailer is about 8 years old now and have always taken care of the roof so no leaks have ever happened. Recently, I started using Flex Seal paint in a can and this has worked out much better than "RV" roof products. My roof doesn't look new, but then again, how many people can see my roof!

Thank Darren for answering my question. I liked the possible solutions for replacing the inline ck valve. Right now i have the ck valve out completely.

Thanks for that tip on the Sea-Tech check valve.I have been stocking up on extra parts to try to service my own rv/trailer.I thought they were all brass.I also used about 4 tubes of Dicor this summer both self leveling & non sag.Cheap insurance.Take the time to check your roof & seals.Keep the vids coming this stuff is gold if your willing to watch & learn.Love your passion for the trade it’s inspiring.

Love your content. I have learned at ton from your videos. I am a new RV owner and I have a question about my roof. I don’t know what kind of roof (material)I have and can’t find out for some reason. I have a Forest River Wildwood hyper Lite 24rlhl. Which is 30’ from tongue to bumper.

When using the ProFlex,, I’m gonna start touching mine up this weekend since it’s over a year old.. and sits on a permanent site that gets a lot of sun on one side.. should I clean the area first with mineral spirits then after I apply the ProFlex dab a little mineral spirit on my finger, to smooth it?
