Had about a 60% hatch rate last time but I have an aviary setup. I added younger female and male to the lot and I could not tell the different in the eggs. Now they are all off age 20 eggs a day so 2 days and the incubator is full. Let's go next round.

What do you think of still air incubators? I opened the vent, put the water in, put the eggs in the egg turner and plugged it in. 99.5 degrees and 50-55 humidity. Wish me luck!

Good luck. Wrap your incubator with a blanket to help insulate. I have not had great success with still air but many people do. I wish you the best

My hatch rate went below 1% during the hot summer in Texas, even though I collected eggs within 2 hours of being layer. I am guessing the hot 100 plus temp weather is making the males less fertile or more sterile, like other species.
@MyshireFarm
@MyshireFarm Жыл бұрын
The temperature does not effect the males. If they were over 9 months old that would be the issue. But usually not the temp.
@LeoBarr1968

It would only effect the males and females if you did not keep.up on fresh water for them all the time.

My last hatch we had 30 out 32 that hatched. We ended up with 18 that survived. The birds seemed wetter than in the past when they came out of the shell. They hatched out alive but didn’t make it long. We had the humidity at 74% during lockdown with the Govee. Brinsea incubator was at 75%. I’m wondering if I had the humidity jacked up a touch too much.

Is there a reason why you don't use pine shavings for baby quail ?

@@stevejackson3041 Not that I know of. I have heard that you should not use cedar shavings but pine has always worked for me.

My hatch rate was terrible I could never understand why if the chicks had hatched they died days later I had a very strange feeling it was the incubator so I went out and I bought a multiquip incubator 100% success and no chicks died

Hi Zach. Once lockdown begins, I've noticed that the chicks that already have hatched bump into the ones in the process and cause them to flip wrong side up. Will this cause them to die mid-hatch? That's the only confusion part of incubation for me. What should be done with the first hatchlings that are wobbling into the rest of the unhatched eggs? Thank you for your help.
@MyshireFarm
@MyshireFarm Жыл бұрын
No it does not really effect the other eggs. It can look stressful but no

I have found that the chicks bumping into the other eggs actually encourages the chick to come out if you look very carefully you will find that the chick will lie next to the egg that it can hear the baby chick inside it's basically egging them onto come out I have also found that it also helps the chick come out because the chick that is on the outside of the egg will also help break the shell

Hi Zack... I'm one of those 25 customers who had a bad USPS experience, with my shipment arriving badly damaged in handling (12 eggs broken - some in the middle of the packing foam layer). The hatch I did before that was %78 (bobwhite). My myshire shipment had only %22.8 (thank you for addressing that btw). After that attempt (sept) I cleaned and sterilized the incubator as recommended. I'm currently trying to incubate now in January and I'm having a very poor fertility rate with 1 roo/4 hens, sometime collecting while they are layed (still warm). Here's my question (finally), could there be residual bacteria from the broken eggs that are preventing any development at all? I have 4 temp verification devices all reading the same and dual hygrometer. Could it be the °30f - °40f collection temp? Could it be my roos are all cis-gendered CNN watchin' goofballs? I've been trying to develop a balut market so I'm placing 30- 60 eggs every two days by inserting new preheated trays into the incubator (

I think it would be best to look at the male first. Bacteria would hurt but would cause more issues then non fertility
Why your quail have stopped laying and how to fix the issue!!!!!
