I'm from Norway. I've lived in Korea and I currently live in the UK. I miss Korean food (and their price), the atmosphere, the fashion, the cheap travel. When I go back home from the UK, I get shocked by the food-, bus- and taxi prices. They're more expensive here in the UK than in Korea, but still quite a lot cheaper than in Norway.

Hi :) I read you're from Norway but lived in Korea. Was this in relation to work? Studying? I've wanted to live in Korea since 2010, but discovered it's a lot harder to find work if one is not originally from an English speaking country. I was born and raised in Norway, but moved to and lived in England for 7 years before returning. :)

I was there as an exchange student. I really want to work in Korea as well, but as you've also realised it's really difficult. I think the best way for non-native English speakers is to specialise in something. For instance, I'm working in publishing and am getting some ELT editing experience. I might be able to get in through that route. Good luck.

dannisjc Oh...That's really cool, and yes, it is really difficult getting hired in Korea coming from a non-English speaking country :P. I was actually really close to getting a job once, but I hadn't lived in England long enough. The requirement was 10 years, but I had only lived in England for 7. You're working within publishing? Can I just say, "What a coincidence?" No, really, what a coincidence! I want to work within publishing (as I have always dreamed of working with books, especially after graduating from a Communication and Media course), but these days it's more about who you know. Would you be willing to help a fellow aspiring publisher out? MySoKoAdventure you should definitely try Viber! I love its stickers and animes. Also you can download it on your laptop, so you can just use it even when you are working and dont want to keep checking your phone.

Cherish Adventure No it's fundamentally different. I've traveled to a bunch of places and I've lived in 3 different countries. When you're on holidays, and I've been on several holidays that lasted for months, you are always aware that your trip is temporary. Every day that passes seems unusual, you're generally not working and your life is planned. When you go live in another country, you get a totally different feeling. That's especially true if you're leaving for an indefinite amount of time, as I did twice in my life. The first few days is completely surreal, doesn't feel like a holiday at all. It's a buzz that is hard to explain, a mix of excitement and apprehension. Then you settle into a new routine, different from home, but you start to get comfortable.
