For those calling this animal abuse, I suggest you look into how these elephants are actually treated. They’re trained by the Karnataka Forest Department to help control wild elephants from entering villages or agricultural fields. A few of them are brought to Mysore once a year for the procession, during which they’re so well-fed they can easily gain a ton or two. Each elephant has a dedicated mahout who’s been caring for them since birth, and the bond between them is strong-there’s even a video of an elephant grieving after its mahout passed away. Also, to clarify, the elephants you’re referring to weren’t running away; it was simply a case of one elephant chasing another during a fight. If you're really worried about animal abuse, take a look at how cows, which we consider sacred are being treated. They're forcefully impregnated, their male calves are sent to slaughterhouses or used for labor, they’re milked constantly, and when they get old, they're abandoned or sold for meat. If you’re actually concerned about animal welfare think about these cows and several other domesticated animals that suffer abuse throughout their life, rather than a few elephants that are well-fed and cared for.

Still they panicked and ran which they most likely would not have done staying at their usual place. Maybe even once a year is too streeesful. About cows: India is the highest milk producer and ranks first position in the world contributing 25% of global milk production. The milk production of India has registered 58% increase during the last nine years i.e., during the year 2014-15 and 2022-23 and increased to 230.58 Mn Tonnes in the year 2022-23. It might be a great Idea to clear your own backyard first.

@@elkejansen5974 The amount of things that are wrong in your comment phew ... Firstly if you had eyes you'd have noticed that the elephants didn't panic but instead had got into fight where one was chasing the other (just like it was mentioned in the video). Plus the elephants aren't under any stress (pls read my above comment I can't type again ffs). And who tf said anything about milk production lmao?? What I said was domestication and milking of cows is more abusive and inhumane compared to these well fed and treated elephants. So thanks for proving my point by showing how milk production has been increased which is an issue of concern. So if you actually care about animal abuse do something about these poor cows than yapping about these well kept elephants 🗣️

@@internetuser9279 Still elephants are wild animals and do not belong in temples to entertain people. Elephants chasing each other in the wild do not endanger people which is the case at religious gatherings. Did you know that there are progessive temples using robots inted of elephants. Much safer and animal friendly I have been a vegan for a long time, so no animal suffers for my consumption. What do you do in your life to minimize animal suffering

@@athensmajnoo3661Please start your campaign of freedom from the domesticated cows in a country where cows are considered as goddess and also killed for meat. Constant milking and killing their calves to increase milk production. Not even a single person rises the animal abuse done on cows on other domesticated animals on daily basis, but every year people do point about the elephants used in Mysore dasara for a small period of 20-30 days. It's our tradition and our culture being followed by the royal family since decades. We never questioned about the pollution caused during Ravan Dahan, then why does questions rise about Mysore dasara?

@@Ex-Muslim_aamir You could say the same about dogs, cats, and other animals people keep as pets. As long as they are well cared for and happy, there's no issue. But consider cows, which many hold sacred-these animals are often subjected to harsh treatment. They're forcefully impregnated, their male calves are sent to slaughterhouses or used for labor, and they’re milked continuously throughout their life. When they grow old, they're often abandoned or sold for meat. If you're concerned about animal welfare, focus on these cows and other domesticated animals which actually suffer abuse throughout their lives, rather than a few elephants who are well-fed and cared for. In fact, elephants often form deep bonds with their mahouts. There's even a video of a Dasara elephant weeping after the death of its mahout. Additionally, these elephants are not illegally tamed, they are trained by the Karnataka Forest Department to help manage wild elephants that enter agricultural lands or villages.
