The jewels are pieces to a crystal shandalier. My mother and grandmother have one that are made from real crystal. They to have the brass hooks in each side.
@aserta7 ай бұрын
The blobs is the remains of an old steamer trunk (tho normal trunks also had them). The casters are specific to them (in that vintage) and they're named "Philadelphia pattern casters". That brass curved piece is the latch that allowed you to keep the steamer locked (i wish i could find the right one, because between it and the casters, it's what itched my brain for 5 hours now). The final element that seals the deal for me tho, the multitude and variety of nails. Small, large and everything in between. And boy.. do steamer trunks have lots of nails in them. Source: i had one of these trunks professionally restored after water got to it. The nails had swollen into the wood and its entire side was messed up beyond repair. It had to be taken apart to bare materials to be remade. The restorer had to replace almost 200 nails of all varieties.

The piece of brass-what-ever it-is is a picture hanger. The wood molding ran around the top of the walls, the hanger clips onto it. The picture is suspended from it by a long wire or cord. No nail holes in the walls! I live in a 100+ year old house with these rails. Works slick. Love your videos ❤
@j.f.christ84217 ай бұрын
All houses should have picture rails, very handy. The cool kids can run LED strips along them. I'm not sure that's a picture hook though, never seen one with the little "T" bit hanging off it, they're always a simple elongated "S" shape. Comment below said it might be part of a steamer trump clasp, dunno about that.

I GOT IT! I know what this is. It was itching my brain ... why would these items be in a pile. Then it hit me. What item has casters and lots of various sized nails in one. An antique trunk. The type with the opening middle and drawers. Those have TONS of various sizes of nails in them from tacks to full sized house sized nails. And then i went online to check the casters... and sure enough, they're all over. They're named philadelphia pattern caster. That curved brass piece is also in some of these steamer trunks as well, as the latch to pull them apart.

This is the contents of a 100-year-old junk drawer! I lived in an old house where we had a drawer with the same items. Old casters from Victorian furniture, glass crystals from various lighting fixtures from chandeliers to wall sconces. Most people would pull out all the casters from furniture when one of them broke. Always had miscellaneous old nails and tacks falling out of old picture frames and furniture. The flat metal brass curved pieces are picture hangers for Victorian homes with picture rails mounted in a room. It's a wooden molding with a rounded top that stood proud off the wall, the brass hanger would fit the curved top of the molding and hang on it. you would have then a wire hanging from the hook of the brass hanger holding the picture or mirror at any height you wanted. I've been following you for years, and I always enjoy you being you!

The jewels are most likely from a light fixture. I have a lamp that was my grandmothers, one of two. My brother has the other one. It is a tall, mostly crystal electric lamp. About midway up it has a glass dish shape with pendants hanging from it. They are a combination of a small crystal followed by a longer one. The small crystal has two wires, one for connecting to the dish and one for connecting to the longer pendant.

I think the blob was a jar filled with casters and small nails and brads and other little items when the lid rusted away the jar filled with water rusting all the items together and eventually the glass broke and the rust clod fell out and sat till Chigg found it many many years later and those are small furniture casters I have the same ones on my antique hutches. Sorry Chigg no silver dollars but that could very well happen!!!
