Funny, my cheap scan tool never mentioned anything about a P0118 temp sensor fail high! On my 07 Pontiac G5. Torque pro app pointed out this issue for me! However, the sensor operated just fine displaying the correct temp on the dash!!! I just changed it anyways!!!

Think the water tube is stupid, the water pump is run by the timing chain and is a pricey fix with special tools needed.

The whole design of the HHR is a piece of 💩, poor engineering! Hand to replace the heater core on one of these vehicles and it was a nightmare. Had to remove the entire dash, console, electrical connectors (approx. 25+) front seats, panels, about 80 tiny screws and 20 nuts ect.ect. As a mechanic this is on top of my least as being one of the worse vehicles to work on! 🤬...I will never again replace a heater core on a HHR! It just does not pay to do such a tedious and intense job!

Hey man great vid! I will adbsikuteky be using this for reference and help! Probably don’t but do you happen to remember if this was throwing any codes or just the coolant?

Thanks, but you must use a pointer stick, like a blackboard pointer...so people know precisely which part you are talking about. I know ... but so many others don't. nice camarawork.

Did you work on your vehicle yet? I am about to start the same thing as my transfer pipe is leaking. Shop wants 900$, I plan to do the work instead. I assumed the pipe was just a loose fit sealed by orings and held in by the thermostat housing. Can you confirm if you have done the work already. Thanks

😁 hated working on my hhr and so glad I never had to do the thermostat on it. I have an ion with a 2.2 ecotec as well but its a stick shift so you can get to the outlet pipe from the bottom without an big shitty automatic transmission in the way. no matter what though the manifold is in the way and is a bitch to get that top bolt. should have left the cussing and bitching in the video so people know what they are really getting into.

Thanks for the Vid. Deff will be helpful in the future for my 08. Im having issues at the moment with the temp. gauge not reading and due to this, my A/C isnt working.Ill be replacing the thermostat and thermo sensor at the same time. Ive been able to get by with the OBII Scanner to reset (Code 78)and temp gauge comes back up to turn A/C back on.Ive had a small Antifreeze leak that I havent been able to find, so this may be it.Thanks
