I was saying "Lonely Days" then you said the other song and I was like Doh! (Edit): Glad you played it. This was their pre disco era. About the mid 70s is where they figured out they could do that falsetto and totally resurrected their career.

Lonely Days the big hit. Pre-disco Bee Gees sounding like the Beatles on that one.

🎼Barry Gibb sings the lead and when his brothers join, there was nobody who could throw some 2 and 3-part harmony like the Bee Gees. Do the old tune “New York Mining Disaster”.🎼☮️

The " Bee Gees" have sold at least 120 million albums.

Bee Gees had more than one biggest song lol! Stayin' Alive was just their big disco song. They wrote over 1000 songs. They had hits in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. After the disco backlash, they spent a lot of their time writing songs for others, that also became hits. Insanely talented, and outside of the falsetto that became 'signature' they had amazing voices, all three of them. You need to hear a lot more of them (not their disco music).

like your idea of ‘Mystery Monday Music’. It is brave to just dive in and play whatever comes up. Where are the records from? Keep reacting Silas.

The Bee Gees were the biggest selling albums and singles act of the 1970's and sold more Disco singles and albums than anybody else that decade😮😊

Silas I am watching in amazement as you turn the record player off with the needle still resting in the groove, and then flip it over and put it down and then start it running 😅😅😅. It's something that came along with DJing but for this kind of music and all of this was way before scratching and turn tabeling became a thing, you always have it running when you put the needle down and lift it up. You never leave it resting on the record, because all you have to do is brush against it with your hand or something and you will scratch the record and possibly damage the needle. Anyway I'm just marveling at my memories of when we were really young and had record players just like that and how crappy the sound really was. There's almost no low end or even low middle at all.

Their falsetto in my opinion is the best The Gibb brothers may be in the category as the Wilson brothers from the Beach Boys Silas please consider reacting to their song Massachusetts

You are a true disk jockey now. Bee Gees quietly had hit after hit, sorta faded out in the mid 70s only to emerge with #1 soundtrack for "Saturday Night Fever". Then another 30 years of fame. They have an incredible catalogue.

I love some of this early Bee Gees stuff. And I kind of forgot about this one but I used to have this album and played it for a while and I really do like this song. It also seems to have a bit of a Beatles tinge to it.

Actually the biggest hit by the Bee Gees is called Night Fever. It was #1 for eight weeks and was the biggest hit from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. By the way, Lonely Days is the A side for the 45 you reacted to. The other side was just a song to fill out side B😮😊

Oh yeah! Bee Gees! They were very popular in the 60’s pre disco and had lots of Incredible songs! Definitely check out more of them. Their last name is Gibb. They were brothers. So Bee Gees stands for brothers Gibb 🙂 Robin & Maurice were twins, they have both died. Barry is still living. They had a younger brother named Andy who also had a music career & some good songs. He has also died. A couple more early Bee Gee songs, “To love somebody” .. “I’ve gotta get a message to you” Thank you for mystery Mondays!

As a 70 yr old near-Detroiter who lived through the disco era, I forgive you because you're a fun and genuine reactor. Disco sucks. Keep up the good work Silas!

I'm happy to hear an old record again! Sounds nostalgic for me. I'm not a big BeeGee fan but they're okay. lol and I think some of those records probably needs some cleaning too. Like your PC needs dust busting. Take care.

SILAS, you need to listen to “Fanny Be Tender With My Love” by The Bee Gees, a massive 1975 hit that they themselves say is their best vocal performance.
