I’ve had the same exact thing. I had two holes like that. The city found collapse stormwater pipes under ground. They fix them. They filled in the holes. Etc. one of them already came back they filled it in again and said that if it falls through the second time it’s all on me. I don’t understand that. Obviously the collapsed storm water pipes at something to do with the giant holes in my yard. They even admitted that. But I can’t seem to get a straight answer either about What I’m supposed to do if it comes back. I have no idea how much that would cost or how I would be able to afford it financially. Very very nervous right now.

i'd build an old school brick well with those hand cranked bucket system and use the water. i'd install a safety lid when not in use.
@maile35107 жыл бұрын
why fill it? the city does not care so just use it. i would install a pump and filtration system to supply water to the house, or even just for gardening.

Why would it cost thousands of dollars to fix? Just fill it with dirt, put a steel cap over it, then put dirt on top of the cap

A top for septic tank will work to seal but not to build over. Filling with dirt won't. The well hole will eventually silt all dirt out below lid because they are lined with brick or curbing. A permanent fix would be filling with concrete just like they seal oil and gas wells you could even build over. The last one I had filled took 14yrds of concrete but was still 6 feet below grade. We put 6' of stable soil on in and 10 plus years hasn't sunk. Jmo

stone from the rock quarry cost like $10.00/ton. It doesn't seem like it should be that expensive to fill.

@@bobbykiefer4306 Gravel is around $30 to $40 a ton. I should know, I buy it pretty regularly. Wouldn't really say it's "way" more. Depending on how deep that well is, it should take more then 3 or 4 tons to fill it. Rent a uhaul and a dump trailer, and a day of work, and problem should be solved at a cost of around $500 with rentals and the gravel
