Mystery Ranch Mission Duffel Vs Mission Rover

The Mystery Ranch Mission Rover and Mission Duffel are similar bags, so since I had them both for a short period of time, I made this video to showcase the differences and why you might choose one bag over the other. Mission Rover is more like a one-bag travel backpack and the Mission Rover is more like a travel duffel with some stowable backpack straps. Both bags are great but it depends on your use case as to which travel bag is fit for your needs.

I actually like the fact that those straps are on the front. I always had this problem of putting the bag down and its sitting on the straps. Finally i can put it down and not worry about the straps.

I think it's better that the straps are on the lid side. The bottom is what you're gonna be putting on the floor, luggage bins on planes, trunks of cabs and seats on the train, much better to keep that side away from your clothes when you wear it as a backpack

There's a caveat though, I live in Mexico, and we do a lot of traveling on buses. If I had to check the bag on a plane I'd go with something different altogether. Still might...

Great comparison. Some additional thoughts: 10:20 - it’s not uncommon for a duffel bag that can be converted to a backpack to have the backpack straps on the front of the bag. 5.11 uses that design as well. As I see it, the main difference is that the Rover is designed for clothing and a laptop. The Mission is more versatile - it could be used for a variety of situations: range / gym / travel / or even a baby bag.

Hey there! Thanks for watching! I'll be honest and say I didn't get the Mission Duffel loaded up to give it a carry test. That video came together in a hurry and I just was focused on the functional differences and didn't really test for comfort or fit. I'm thinking the Mission Rover is more suited for backpack carry though if I had to take a guess.

I've owned the previous version of the Mission Rover and currently own the Mission Duffel. To me, the straps were equal, but the Mission Duffel carries better. The Rover stores your laptop away from your back. First off, when I'd overpack the main pocket, it put pressure on the laptop. Secondly, if I didn't fill the bag completely, the heavy laptop felt like it was pulling the bag away from my back. It does look like there is one major change though between the version I owned and this one - thereis now a taper to the bag, making the laptop weight "fall inward" towards your back. That's probably much better than the rectangular shape of the previous.

The "Mission duffel" ist not a backpack but a duffle. So you put it down and it should not stand on the backstraps. Thats the reason why it is designed like that. Its not a backpack but a duffle bag - with a backpack option.

im going to guess that backpack design with the label, etc on your back is for is security.... someone behind you cant unzip and remove your items.
