The waist belt on the SATL is meant to be used with a separate combat belt. It either lies over the combat belt like a sandwich, or above it, so you have two belts parallel to each other on your body. You can then use the straps on the bottom of the pack to rig up the combat belt, giving you two belts for load transfer.

Finally got the time to watch your comparison. I have the same Pintler on the Guidelight Frame. I've yet to fully pack and hike the SATL on my favorite trail so I really can't make a review on mine. The BVS on mine seems more rigid. Maybe I'll make a review on mine to compliment yours. Hope you have many great adventures on your SATL. My wifey is using the satl and delivering me the feedback, iv taken it on a few good hikes but ya shes running it with 25lbs while I train with the big boy! Lol that tactiplane! man its dangerous if over packed! I'm running it with 55lbs and that's my limit for sure! However it does carry 55 better than the pintler, only cause I carried the pintler with a bulky dry sac that pulled it to far from my back, messing up my center of gravity, with the t-plane I don't experience that as bad even on steep terrain , Oh n yes I agree entirely on making your own vid on the satl as there is not many videos on it, people have different experiences with the same gear as all people are different, so its good to get multiple perspectives out there to inform consumers like us on what you will get with these older packs.

The problem is the satl was made to be worn with body armor so wearing it without is somewhat uncomfortable. But pleasant with armor on!

Manitoba bushcrafting and reviews I made the mistake of overloading this with 70lbs and going on a backpacking trip in Europe. Haha I was blown away by how heavy it was on my lower back. From 30-45 lbs this thing shines with bare back! I just wish I knew how to use the inside to its true potential. Isn’t it a coms bag?

@@Oclb I don't think it's strictly for coms but I know most of mystery ranches military bags do have a radio harness atleast the older ones, all I know is they are made for socom so I'd think it has variety of uses, im very happy with mine tho I paid 185 usd in un issued condition, totally looked new, not a scratch and just seen one in used condition going for $400 usd so I doubt I'll ever let it go, that was too good of a deal

I like it to as it does have the overload feature so I can carry my 40l drysack in between the frame and the bag so pretty much doubles the volume

How did you remove the BVS? Unstick the tops of the tubes?

So the SATL waist belt is not good for load bearing and transferring the weight to the hips? I was looking to get a SATL for hiking, but this lack of hip support makes me doubt.

The old gen satl is not very good at all but they re designed it to transfer load in 2013 so if you get one get one made after 2013 and it should be epic!

Just wish I could actually find the military packs from mystery ranch. Coyote SATLs aren't in production i heard and there is only 1 coyote overload 3 zip in the whole world available brand new from Germany (as far as I know). Any advice on tracking these down? Liked the overviews of the packs in the video 👍

The satl I got lucky with, I paid $230 usd shipped on ebay , the ad was for a heavily used one, I got to talking with the seller and he must of liked me cause he said he'd send a new one and he did just that, the tactiplane I traded my pintler for plus some goodies lol got lucky on that one aswell, id try the mystery ranch interests and sales fb page, I see all kinds of mr military bags on there, id recommend a satl from 2013 or newer as they'll have a load bearing waist belt whereas pre 2013 just has the little fins like the 3 day assault

I didn't think I would be able to find a newer SATL anywhere, yet there are a few on ebay it seems. I'll be looking into getting a new one from the seller you linked. Appreciate it man.
