I would add that because our earthly life is so brief, and that we cannot take anything with us when our days are ended, it is imperative that we are rich towards God. Eternity is a long time, and while we are here, we get to choose where we spend it. If we choose to accept the sacrifice Christ made for us and receive Him as our Saviour,we will spend eternity with Him. The alternative doesn’t bear thinking about. 🤔🙏🙏🙏

LESLEY, you for always showing respect when you're visiting other people's homes. When we watch people here in the USA go through of their homes, they steal things and break things and it's disgusting. Thank you for being a good steward for what you do. Very enjoyable

It's also inadvisable to steal from abandoned homes because there could be mold, mildew, toxic chemicals, heavy metals and other things on looted items that you don't necessarily want to introduce onto your own property or person. At least with estate sales, it's generally all regulated and checked by the government. With looted items, you never know. I've known people who bought items that turned out to have been looted from homes affected by Hurricane Katrina, polluted by sewage and animal waste, and a guy who stole toys for his baby daughter from a local abandoned farmhouse; the toys turned out to be coated with lead paint and were next to a container used for storing old Dow pesticides in. To all urban explorers out there: stay safe, protect yourselves when you investigate!

Wonderful Leslie. Gosh, I wish somehow we could go back in the time, maybe just 10-15 years or so. The stairlift, the security sensors all over the basement. This place was truly grand in the early 1900’s . Somehow you amaze the family leaving this mansion in the middle of nowhere at around 1967. Someone stayed or took over until approximately 2014 ( probably a family connection) . Wonderful tour Leslie. Thank You

Love it. This story brought tears onto my eyes as I travelled around Sicily and saw similar houses there. What is especially touching are those, I would say, "museum" kind of baths, silent piano, and wooden window frames. Watching this video I also liked comments about sense of life and why life is so precious. It has given me an idea to suggest this channel to my friends one more time. Looks like throughout years you do this exploring, a simple courioucity has transformed if not to a mission but to a kind of philosophy.

What a wonderful tour of an active family from years past, Kind Thanks! The piece in front of the fire place is called a fire screen. It kept the extreme heat from getting too hot for someone close. It always seems a shame to see these grand places falling down. But when we think of thousands of years past, we see little of it. And the simple homes are as interesting and important as the fancy ones. As my Grandfather used to say, "In a hundred years no one will know a thing about it" . Meaning of course that we often make a big deal out of things that aren't so terrible. Just living with it ups and downs. But really, we learn from the hard times and not the best ones. We are here to experience. Thank You! Love and Joy of Spirit! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania

In front of the gold fireplace is a, ‘tapestry screen.’ These were embroidered decorative screens not meant for directing heat, but rather for covering up, in a decorative way, the gaping mouth of an empty fireplace. 💙

I was thinking it was more of a decorative screen. I've seen brass peacock screens meant to put inside a fireplace just to make it look pretty. It appeared that fireplace had a metal stove pipe and not a brick chimney.

And sometimes they were used as fireguards as well to help with stopping embers from spitting out of a open fire (obviously not cloth ones lol )
@sarahstrong71744 жыл бұрын
Also they were positioned between the fire & the ladies face when she sat by the fire, so that her face did not get red with the fires heat, as ladies did not want to have red faces like those of the women who worked in the fields. There were also separate face sheilds, with an oval shape on a taller stand, but most people seem to have used the decorative fire screen, as it could also be used to cover up the grate, as described.

Hi Lesley, Bros of Decay, Already the start of the video showed once more the exceptional quality, when you were giving with your wonderful voice a very poetic introduction of the actual explore. - Very well made, - I always enjoy your beginnings! Compared with a good meal, they are the entree. - And of course the wonderful "main course" - the mystical mansion of the wine producing family Giovanni itself, was again so exciting and interesting to watch. The huge wine barrels in the cellar are absolutely impressive. - Some of the rooms still were containing beautiful furniture. - I also liked the wonderful ceilings with the elaborate decorations. - But of course that very special bedroom, where you ended the video with your outro, was a real banger. - So beautiful! - The "dessert" was the finale in the attic, which also was very interesting to see, especially that antique bath tub. - Wonderful video, which I very much enjoyed watching, my dear friend! - Greetings also to your adorable brother Jordy! - I hope to see you both once in a while again, when this Corona craziness is finally over. - So, lets just hope for the best! Stay safe and take care! - God bless you, peace and kindest regards.

This is my second time checking out this exploration. I know you love your "Heaven" beds, Leslie. You have me calling them that now. I get so excited when I see one, myself. I just never called them "Heaven" beds until I started following your channel about five years ago. I love them. I hope you don't mind me borrowing the name that you gave them. I can feel the energy through the screen of this beautiful place. I can tell they were wealthy, but yet humble, hardworking spiritual Italians, with loving hearts, that truly loved Jesus and cared about their community and their home. Nice and tidy, too. And the three ladies in those pics were sisters, if not, they loved each other like they were sisters, I get that from just the before (when they were younger) pic, and then the replicated pic of when they got older. Soul sisters. Beautiful, too, and the bungalow is also. I wish someone would purchase it. It wouldn't to fix it up, at least it doesn't look like it. I am commenting because I wanted to agree with you when you stated in not so many words that we shouldn't take life so seriously. To actually Live it and be happy doing things we love to do while we are still yet alive, because when we leave this world behind, it will be too late. I cannot agree with you more considering we are living in the latter days of old earth. Life should not be taken so seriously all of the time. To actually is doing what you love. Living your God given dreams, as You and Danny inspire us your followers to do. Thank You for such awesome explorations and for being authentically You. Much love from WV. USA.

Thank you for posting these forgotten homes of the once wealthy. Your videos bring us right in along with you. Truly feels like I’m right there with you guys. I truly appreciate the respect and care you take while exploring these hidden gems. It would be interesting to know more about the families and who has inherited the properties, and why. that could be a whole different show. Hope you do not run out of beautiful homes to explore soon.

Fireplace screens had dual purpose of being decorative and shielding those in the room from direct heat that could be too intense but also if the fire was open there would be small embers or sparks escaping that could cause damage to floors, rugs, walls, etc.

Thank you for sharing all these awesome abandoned places that you explore. I love that you show much respect for these buildings, even the respect you have for the objects that you touch; being so gentle, as not to damage and always returning the objects right back where you picked it up from. Love you guys and your explorations. Please keep them coming. Sandy from the US

The fire screen is used to put in front of the fire when the fire is not in use, it hides the hole in other words when not in use,, interesting place, thanks again, respect, take care

I heard fire screens were used to protect the womens gowns from being caught on fire.
@paulemajer56344 жыл бұрын
@@pamkupf6080 that's the metal wire ones, they also stop sparks and coal from setting your house on fire, the wooden painted ones are used to put in front of the hole when fire is not in use, gives something nicer to look at than a dirty gaping hole

you have a wonderful way of putting the shooting in such a way that the viewer can feel as if moving around personally.it does not create any confusion of location and orientation (which usually happens in such kind of films) this gave fair idea of layout of house and the property .wonderful achivement . i respect you for your way of narration which is sensitive and respectful to the house and the people who lived there. i could imagine people living everyday life in this house . ans felt happiness and a pang or loss at the same time !

Fireplace screens were used to protect the women’s faces from the direct heat. Back in the day women’s make up was made with a wax base and They didn’t want the wax to melt
