If you use the scroll wheel and go in to where you are there is a marker for your character and it will show the direction you are facing, the reason that you dont see your marker is the map is huge so you need to move it around. when you were looking at the map your marker looked like it was at the top of the lake in the south inside the circle that has the symbol for strong hold. 1 more thing I would suggest is that you read the quest details completely because they tell you about what and how to complete them.

If you press B it puts you in harvest mode so you can harvest stuff a lot faster.

Those skill points at the bottom do not raise your skill they increase the rate at which you gain experience in that field ie Mining, Hunting, One handed. You put far too many into Lumber as that raises quickly anyway, luckily you can move those points around although it costs coin to do it and I think you can only do it a few times.

Be careful... I read some reviews, and it seems like there are some guilds that run around and raid and attack everyone on sight consistently, basically taking over the servers. These groups are absolutely huge from what I read. Many many reviews saying the same.. there's alot of negative feedback. Just be careful.

You don't go to pvp servers until your lvl16. This game is just like ark where the pvp servers get owned by groups, it's unavoidable.

You can just play by yourself or just with friends as well using custom server to set up your own world from the start screen.

That's only on the pvp servers... there are pve servers that are much easier to learn on
