that dog was in training, not fully trained and ready for work. dogs ready for real k9 work are trained to ignore food and only eat when told to. even security dogs ie: airport security etc, are trained to ignore the smell of food. with a non trained or in this case, in-training dog, sure that might work. but probably not.

When you think about it, Tori was actually the best cause his worked as designed and given enough time probably could've made it out. Grant was a complete fail and Kari had to improvise as her design both started being torn apart and had an exposed area she couldn't risk using.

Another flaw in the mythbusters' plans are that their methods didn't take the difficulty in opening the safe into account. From what I could see, opening the safe was only a matter of pulling the door open. In real life, they would need more dexterity than or hamster ball would allow

furzle1552 The biggest flaw was that the dog was really aggressive and well-trained, but he was in an experimental environment. Trying to distract him from protecting an area he's very territorial about might be an entirely different story.

*If you watch old episodes of COPS you can see how effective police dogs are against drunk/drugged up suspects* . Spoiler alert: The suspect was so drunk/high that the dog was hanging from his arm and the guy just ignored it and kept walking. Pretty sure a police dog would be similar to a guard dog.

TBH training your dog not to eat treats from intruders should come first... using some poison or sleep pills would knock them out and you wouldn't even have to worry about how long they are distracted. Unfortunately I lost a dog to rat poison hidden in ham.

I'm thinking that two barrels, on on top of the other and attached, and the bottom open so that he could walk would work. Wouldn't even need to be the steel barrels -- the blue plastic ones would work. The bottom barrel would have the top and bottom open and the top barrel would just have one end open and be inverted so that the closed end was on top. Then add a small door that can be opened to put your hands through to open the safe. The curves on the barrels would be a large enough diameter that the dog would not be able to get a bite on it. I also wonder how well a suit of chain mail would work. Dogs don't like it when they bite on things that don't give. One of my dogs was chewing on the wooden frame around the door opening to his dog house, so after I repaired it, I put a piece of 1/2" 16-gauge square tubing around the inner edge of the opening and he quickly decided it was not so tasty.
