Wolves have always received a sour reputation as monsters in folklore, but no wolf was ever like Fenrir! Born of Loki, Fenrir is a gigantic wolf whose size and strength are said to grow exponentially every day, and was prophesied to make the gods suffer. In fear, Odin and the other gods sought to bind Fenrir, but what tether could leash up a beast so big and so strong? Tune in to hear the tale of Fenrir's binding, and his role in the tale of Ragnarok!

I think that while Fenrir was born somewhat with almost two strikes against the gods to start with (being a son of Loki and having evil siblings), I personally think that it was the events of his life that derailed all the effort Odin tried to turn Fenrir good. Just like the quote said "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it", Odin trying to prevent Ragnarok only made his fate worse.

Possibly Odin don't want to try prevent Ragnarok anymore. The Norns told Odin that Vidar destined to survive Ragnarok, defeat every enemy in this final battle and become one of the gods of new world.

No, there are actually many wolves in our myths, like Skoll, Hati, Garm, Gjeri and Freki. None of which are considered gods. Fenrisulven is a personification of hatred and rage, while Loki's other children with Angerboda are fear and death. (Jormungandr and Hel)

In 536, Fenrir devored the sun. This resulted in a temperature drop, known as the Fimbul winter, which killed half of the people in Skandinavia. It was probably also the cause of the Justinian plague that killed half of the people in the Bysantine empire. Or the cause was a vulcanic eruption in middle America. Same result.

Sygni was Loki's wife. Angarbodia was his lover. She gave him 3 children. Hel(the queen of Nethelhiem...the land if shadows), Jormondguner (the Midgard serpent), then Fenrir.

Ya know, there's just something cool, misunderstood, & almost cuddly, about Fenrir, hah! Seriously though, I've always felt that way, & I'll most likely continue to do so! I love all of Loki's children, y'all...even Jormungandr! Yet, I doubt that one especially would ever return that affection to me, lol! Nor would Fenrir, I'd imagine, most likely! Great video, & excellent content, my friend! Brilliantly done!⭐💜🌍

Ah! I've been needing something to lift my spirits as of late, and this...! This was so perfect! Two of my favorite things in one: Norse Mythology and wolves! Fenrir has always been my favorite of Loki's kids. Odin's reasoning for Fenrir living with them reminds me of a saying: "You can take a wolf out of the wild, but you can't take the wild out of a wolf." Granted Fenrir is not a wild wolf, in the sense of the saying I quoted, but I feel it fits in it's own way. Thank you for another awesome video, and future videos to come!

Quick addendum on one of your points. Specifically in regards to your statement of Garm, Skoll and Hati actually being Fenrir. That's not necessarily true. Certain (Specifically the Locus Eda and Pros Eda) sources say that Skoll, Hati and Garm are Fenrir's CHILDREN (and thus Loki's grandchildren), not Fenrir himself.

Loki was never evil until he ate the witch's heart. The Asgardians were troubled by a powerful and evil witch. Once they killed her, they burned her corpse. Only her heart survived the fire and this is what Loki ate. Thus bringing Asgard closer to The Twilight of the Gods.

Jormungandr, Fenrir & Hella was not evil, just not loved enough... Given anybody who was discriminated and banished will behave as such 😅 Fenrir was "chained" becaz he grew too big too fast. Aesir gods got scared and tricked him to be chained by the magical silk ribbon, from Fenrir's point of view, I think he felt betrayed. I would bite of Odin's head too if I was Fenrir during Ragnarok 🤣

Everytime Loki is involved in a story the gods themself are the one who where bringing the doom on themselfs it seems and with Fenrir, he did nothing wrong just a missunderstood creature basicly a child/puppy that was growing very fast what´s worse is that maybe Tyr was the only one who would even care for Fenrir only to be (in Fenrirs eyes) betrayed by the only god who cared

Fenrir was always evil. Even if he was treated better, he would still be demonically evil and criminally insane because of his father being Loki, the ancient Asgardian god of Evil, Lies, and Mischief, and his mother being the crazy frost giantess from Jotunheim Angrboda. Two evil magical beings having a child would create an extremely dangerous, psychotic psychopath of a monster. Fenris Wolf's other half-siblings, Jormungard, the Midgard Serpent, and Hela, the ancient Asgardian goddess of death, are proof of this. Odin was stupid and wrong for treating Fenris like a weapon instead of a pet. If he had treated him like a pet instead of a weapon, he might have been slightly more docile and controllable. But in his arrogance, he only eventually made Fenris ultimately much more powerful and stronger than even him. And in the end, he was finally humbled. A lesson in humility that was a long time coming for the all powerful king of the ancient Norse gods and goddesses.

Makes you wonder about Sleipnir, the only child of Loki that all of zero gods had an issue with. Far as I know, Slepnir doesn't seem to possess any special intellect (probably because he's half-horse?) and seems to only serve as Odin's steed with his only real claim to fame is his eight legs. A real shame since he's a fascinating animal who seems overshadowed by his other, more monsterous siblings. And actually "trickster" doesn't always mean "evil". Loki is similar to Hades where "evil" was used to describe them from a Christian POV. OverlySarcasticProductions does a better job explaining it than I could. Red did a rundown video on Loki which was a deep dive into the earliest writings on the Norse pantheon but from what I remember, attributing Evil to Loki was a later addition to the mythos once Christians came into contact with the ancient Norse but it was never original to him in the earliest writings or verbal tradition.
