StephaniehasStories She's destroying every stereotype put on the Internet by stupid people. Example # 1 Blind people cannot cook. This misconception irritates me so so much. Example # 2 Blindness happens at birth and it NEVER happens later in life. Ok if you're not an eye doctor you can't go around believing that.

Hi. This video is very good for teaching people about visual impairment. I am registered blind and, because I am a young adult, when people see my cane, it's like they think I shouldn't have it and so they ignore it. There's also the whole "but you don't look blind" thing... and the "why don't you have a guide dog?" thing... and the "but how can you see the computer?" thing... There are so many misconceptions. I wonder why people aren't educated more about disabilities that aren't necessarily obvious.

I find the blind labelling you talked about very interesting. There's a lot in what you said there. People always want to attach a definite label to people. That must be frustrating sometimes.

Hi there I love your videos. I am hard of hearing, and I sometimes find it a little difficult to follow what you say in this video. Although I must say that you have REALLY good lip formation, I don't always understand. If you wouldn't mind, could you maybe leave a small transcript of what you say in the description. By the way, thank you so much for making these videos, my sister recently became legally blind, and channels like yours really help.

This is great! I'm a sighted person who used to work down the hall from the state Bureau of the Blind. I learned very much from getting to be friends with the director and staff. However, you have added much to what they taught me.I love your accent. You are an unbelievably beautiful woman.Speaking of talking loudly, the background music makes you very difficult to hear and diminishes your great video. Nothing in the background is necessary when someone can make a great video like this.I am 55, so I may be a little hearing deficient in the speech range. I've sat in front of trumpets in an orchestra for many years. However, many people in today's world have some sort of hearing problems. Please keep up this great work. I'm now following you and look forward to more videos!I realize that my comments are almost 2 years late. lolBest,Earl Zoseph

Yeah, here's another misconception. My daughter went legally blind 8 years ago. We went to the local food pantry together a few years ago. I signed us and accidently put my last name down for her. Since we'd been going there for a while at the time the people knew us. So the one lady came over (we were sitting together) and asked me if she'd changed her last name instead of asking her. So my daughter pipped up and answered her question. Ok folks, my daughter's eyes don't work, but her mind works just fine. She does not have any brain damage!!!!!!!!! She makes her own decisions. She's mentally fine. Therefore she's not stupid just because she can't fully see things. If someone has a question about her, ask her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm visually impaired, (Low vision and tunnel vision.) I have a cane, what annoys me is when I ask for directions and people say. "Oh it's over there." Where is over there? Another thing is when I'm struggling in a place I've never been before on stairs and no one offers to help. I don't read braille but I have a go with large print books, but the books cost a lot more than a normal standard print size copy.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I think the reason people think you can't have a fashion sense is because they wonder how you can match. So how are you able to match? Sorry if this is stupid again.

A friend of mine is blind and he really doesn't care about fashion so he just has a few pants, some shirts and a couple of shoes and jackets so everything kind of goes together being like grey, blue, black and similar colors. He could be wearing a clown costume and he wouldn't really care. I think he has one fancy outfit for special occasions.

legally blind is different between totally blind. Visualy impaired is a big spectrum. People's senses aren't better because they've lost one, it's just they really depend on it and so therefore because some people are totally sighted and walk around almost getting hit by cars. I had a guide dog he got attacked by a pittbull next door, no leahs/collar. No more dogs period for me. I just don't feel comfortable around dogs because someoen wasn't RESPONSIBLE. You have to know how to get around, you can't expect a dog to do it for you. I grew up in the seventies and alot more people were going to blind schools then, but now not as much, depending, but Overbrook still seems to be pretty big as a blind school so far. *reg school* I don't think there's anything wrong with I see, or watch.. etc. The hardness I had from GEB for my dog was all leather on the outside and the handle was metal covered by leather. Please if you want to help someone whether blind/vis impaired/egally blind, totally blind..etc please ASK first, don't just grab someone and say ohh let me help you then take them across a road, intersection they did NOT want to cross. :))) So confusing. Don't pet guide dog's withot asking. Don't call them, or in anyway try to get their attetion, feed them...etc. Think how you'd feel if someone picked up your contacts when you were trying to cross a street, eat dinner quietly without interuptions, etc. Pls don't see you don't LOOK BLIND, there are degrees of blindness, that is the way it is. :) I'm visually impaired and that's all I wanted to say. I am NOT helpless and noone is that is blind -> vis impaired. :D

+Lauren McGuire It's like, what are we supposed to look like? If I get a braille tattoo on my forehead, or a print one that says "I'm blind," will you cut it out? But I don't think they can help it. We live in an intricate net of stereotypes and societal norms that would be hard, even for a sighted person, to see past.

Well yeah, but a girl's gotta buy new clothes, right? And personally, I wouldn't be able to tell one of my own t-shirts from another based on feel. Also, I'm a terribly unorganized person. So, I can imagine if I were bind I would put on mismatching colors because of lack of organization.

1. People either get in my face or shove objects at me "so I can see it better" 2. People take my hand without asking to touch things I can't see...or things they think I can't see. I can't get services simply because of my acuity in my right eye even though I can't read standard print and am not allowed to drive. I'm not the right kind of blind I guess.

I've heard from a vid of yours that around 10% of people are blind. If youre comfortable with telling, I was wondering what your vision was like? Also, love the vids. I've been watching a lot of your short videos recently. It's so interesting and I love your energy in them. I found out about you from Molly. I'm American but have found out about her cause shes in LA and I was into this LA vlogger vibe and would watch a lot of creators based in LA. Thought it was soo interesting at a time, the LA thing. And well even if I don't know a blind person personally, I also thought the culture around it was interesting as well. Still do. I'm more into British creators now, after having read a few books with British characters in them. Red, white, and Royal Blue and also Boyfriend Material. Both are LGBT romance books but cute and funny, in my opinion. I really enjoyed them and well it got me into British culture. I'm also into the Zac and Jay show, Max Fosh, and the Anti Social podcast to name a few. All really good vibes and good energy. I hope you and Ollie are happy and healthy during covid ❤️

How do you buy clothes? I mean how do you know what suits you? Which color for example? And do you pay more attention to the fabric? I can imagine that your sense of touch is more developed that mine for example. So it might be a bigger reason for you to buy something whether for me its often the color. Well I almost wear black :D But there are different kinds of black :D Everything that you wear in your videos suits you so well. It is perfect for your red hair and bright blue eyes, so sorry that I´m so curious but how do you chose that?

Thank you for answering me.I had recently a good idea how blind people can be more independent at least in their homes if they are messy like me XD I mean you all have to sort things, without some organisation you loose them and I have a good idea how this is possible without leaving things on certain places in case to find them again. I will try to make this idea real and possible for every blind person to be able to use my invention :)

A good way to ask something like “do you have any usable vision?“. What gets tiring is when people ask things like “so you just see all black?“ Or Doing things like waving your hand in front of someone’s face and asking if they can see that or how many fingers do you have up etc.
