I think sometimes many early learners have trouble learning when they are surrounded by a class. Some children can learn well from 1 on 1 guidance with their parents but their strong natural instincts kick in when surrounded by so many new peers and their cognitive brain doesn't function in a stable manor, this happen at the subconscious level..

The story is so similar for my son add in covid and we are screwed. I have pulled him out of school homeschooling him for the third year. I’m in Florida and the school system the whole RTI is awful. I tried putting him back in school but. Evaluate his evaluation is old they still won’t give him accommodations until he gets another evaluation. I’ve had him privately tested and the public school system has tested him but two years ago he has so many evaluations and the school system won’t accept any of them. They want to retain him and give him no help. I’ve so had it with the public school system. As parents we knew something was wrong before Kindergarten. Thankfully I am able to homeschool my son right now. Just so disgusted with our experiences. Oh well we can only move forward!!!

my daughter is currently in an accelerated private school and they assessed her to go into K one month earlier than she would in public school (she would go into TK in pubic). Half way through her kindergarten school year at this accelerated private school (teaching 1st grade in her K class), the teacher mentioned that she might have early signs of an ELA disability such as dyslexia. So we started a barton tutor mid K year. due to financial reasons, we are pulling her into public school for the next school yar. Should we fight to have her go into 1st grade? Or repeat K?

I would recommend to repeat kindergarten. You dont want to overwhelm her and she will be more happy with kids her age. It is better for her socially and academically.

Always do what's easier on the kid. don't forget to consult ... the kid herself! :)
