Your wife is correct about it being an investment in equipment. If you had to hire out to do these jobs you would be at someone else's mercy for price, scheduling, quality of work performed, etc. And if you rented, same thing - their prices, equipment availability, the condition of the equipment (rental stuff leads a hard life, and sometimes conveniently breaks while on your project), delivery/pickup charges (if you don't have a trailer), etc. etc. Being able to do projects at a moments notice with no time constraints and exactly how you want it done (even if you have to do them over as you learn along the way) is priceless. Be thankful you have the implements, bought before all the crazy supply/price issues - and don't look back.

😊 Hi JohnzCarz, yes! Very good points! I am thankful I was able to do many of my projects within the time restraints. You are also accurate about rental equipment! I have had some bad experiences when I have rented roughed up equipment. Yes! Prices now are crazy!!! Thanks for checking out the video! Take care!🚜🍺🇺🇸

Really appreciate this video. I sold my 1975 2wd tractor with loader, and I'm shopping all brands for 4wd new tractor so I can finance. I really wanted a backhoe. But as I'm shopping at the end of 2023, a dealer installed backhoe is over 10k, across all brands! Up front, I know I would use it a lot, tons of major landscaping and grading to do around my house (newly built), and I would like to put in a small pond. But after that, I think it would sit, and not be worth much for resale since you'd have to find somebody willing to install the frame mounts, etc. A CK3520HST with 4030 quick attach loader and 2475L backhoe, with some additons like loaded tires and extra backhoe bucket is pricing out at $37k. This is not even the SE model. I also want the front grapple and tiller, but a backhoe blows my budget. Your video is really helping me consider what implements I need the most. I'm seriously thinking of skipping the backhoe in favor of grapple with 3rd function, pallet forks, and tiller. I'll probably set back 2k from my down payment, so I can rent a mini trackhoe as needed.

😅👍 I hear you! Sounds like you have thought it out and researched it well. Makes sense. I still have my backhoe and I have still hired a guy with his excavator twice over the last year. He charged me less than renting one and having it delivered would have cost, plus, both times he did minor damage to his equipment that I was not on the hook for. Money well spent. Best wishes with your purchase. Take care!🚜🇺🇸💪

Excellent video! Two and a half weeks ago, my RX7320 cab and K9 side by side was delivered. Added loader and bucket of course, backhoe and Titan pallet forks. Wanted a brush hog and box blade, but dealer didn’t have big enough versions to use with 7320. Bought mine in Grants Pass from Runaway Tractor. Jason and Michelle were great to work with. Purchased 200 acres down here in the high desert region of Oregon after a 25+ year career in law enforcement in Portland. Feel some guilt everyday I’m out on my property “working”, while my brothers and sisters are still in the suck. The K9 is awesome also. My wife insisted on one, and how could I say no after letting me get a 7320. I also bought a 1994 YJ for $2500 a few months back and I love that on the property. Feeling pretty blessed these days. Keep up the great work you do with your videos.

I understand your pain, but I have learned to sit back and do the following calculation: * figure out how much time it takes to load/unload the machine, and round-trip drive to the rental place (that is the time cost to get/return the rental). Try to figure out how many days of work you have done with the backhoe, or whatever implement, now break that up into realistic days when you could have rented it in a block. Now add the number of days (and be sure to consider the portage), and that is the realistic cost comparison to the backhoe. For me, it takes over two hours round trip to pick up the backhoe and take it back. A comparable size rental is $216 for 4-hours, and $310/day, and $950 for a week, and $2,300/month. So, if you have used it for individual 8 weeks a year... then the purchase is clearly a win. If you have only used it a couple of days, then it might be worth getting rid of. In addition to just the cost to rent vs. cost to purchase, there is also lost opportunities -- I do not currently make my living with the farm. So, I can either get up at the crack of dawn and do a couple of hours on the tractor, shower, and head to work; or come home from work, work a couple of hours on the tractor, and call it a day. I can get 10x work done having a machine sit there and use it a little here and there, than plan on a few long weekend to rent a machine, bring it home, work dawn to dusk, and return it before work the next Monday. I would be curious if you ran the numbers if you would still regret it. If so, sell it off -- they keep their value well. I would offer to purchase the backhoe, but if I understand things correctly you are in Washington State, and I am on the east coast -- it probably is not worth the extra money to ship it or drive over to pick it up.

I have a wood chipper, box blade, regular blade, brush hog, landplane, harrow drag, rake, and grapple. THE BEST BUY was the grapple, which is on my tractor as much or more than the bucket. I use everything else from time to time, but the grapple and the bucket, I use them all the time. For my roads, I would take the landplane and over the box blade every time. When I first bought my property I did need a backhoe. I bought a used tractor with a backhoe. Tractor backhoes are a hassle to get off and on. Used it for 400 hours and sold it for what I paid for it. Now I just use one of those cheap tow behinds when needed. Here is what I tell most people. If I had known what it was going to cost me for everything I needed to work my land I wouldn't have bought the land. The land was the cheapest part of the deal. Fun? Yes! Expensive? Very!

I think you have given a fair assessment of your experience. You are not the first to recommend buying the forklift attachment upfront. Sold on that idea. The grapple idea I am sold on too. And after your feedback on the backhoe attachment, I think I will rent a mini excavator when I need a backhoe attachment. I find that I think I should own a backhoe attachment but realistically I only need it now and then. Or get a quote from a nearby contractor to do the job, compare it with renting a mini excavator plus my time and make a decision. The trouble with the backhoe is that I only need it for about 3 or 4 side shows and that is it.

What about your quick hitch I saw behind you at the end of your video? I would agree with you on your choices. You can rent a mini ex many times for $7000 and they are 10x more efficient. I just bought my third tractor. Traded my Kubota B2650 cab for a DK6010se cab. Seems like a good value for the money. I hope it’s as reliable as my old Kubota. The only advice I would offer is considering a flail mower for the type of mowing you are doing. Much better cut quality and better for getting close to fence lines or under tree lines. I sold my Woods BH and bought a flail about 3 years ago and have never regretted it. I think it’s time for me to purchase a grapple … good video.

I bought a new Kioti NX 5510 HST in 2018. Bought a EA 60" Wicked Root Rake Grapple and EA 60" long pallet forks. Got a 84" Gannon 4x4 box blade with hydraulic scarifiers on the back. Added a Bxpanded Piranha toothbar to the bucket.(highly recommended.) The grapple is my favorite attachment, bar none. Wished I hadn't paid for new pallet forks though, they're everywhere used and nothing to really wear out on them. I wouldn't buy a new bush hog either, tons of used ones, and I would probably use it for about an hour a year myself. That's why I can't pull the trigger on a new tiller either; I'd need at least 74+" to cover my wheel tracks, and it'd come out of the shed once a year in the spring to till a small garden. (Probably take 10 minutes to till it.) Can't justify 3-5K for something I'd use a few minutes a year. I can buy a lot of canned green beans for $5000. I took a hard pass on the Kioti backhoe, I decided I'd just rent a mini-ex or borrow the neighbor's backhoe if I had any serious digging to do. If it was like $2k I might have considered it, but the one for my bigger tractor was ~$8000 at the time. I could rent an excavator that would work circles around a tractor backhoe for a lot of hours for that much $!

Appreciate the retrospective. Great points with reasonable rationalization. I'm a Kubota owner - bought it new and it included the bucket. I bought used forks, used grapple and a used rotary tiller; bought used based on the cost vs use equation. With the savings, i was able to buy a new stump grinder attachment. So far, the used gear is still holding up as I'm using the equipment on a wood lot. Thought about a mulcher and the backhoe but decided not to based on cost vs use scenario; but i did rent both for projects that required those attachments.

I just received a quote for the new CK2620 w/4030 loader & 66" bucket, rim guard rear tires, 3rd function and dual rear remotes. All in, it's $27,900 and the dealer said to add another $9k if I want the backhoe. Sounds to me like you got a smoking deal, and I'd hang on to that backhoe if I were you! Lol These new Biden prices are a hard pill to swallow. Have you noticed any issues digging with the 66" bucket? I've seen others with the CK2610 mention that they wish they'd have gone with the 62" so the tractor wouldn't have so much surface area to overcome across the buckets edge when digging.
@tractorrookie
@tractorrookie 10 ай бұрын
Hi MrEunderwood I am assuming that is a financed price without the cash incentives. The third function is about $1400 add on, the additional rear remotes probably 1k. The current cash price for the backhoe is $8450, $9450 financed. If I was going with the 2620, I’d go with the 60” bucket. Better maneuverability and faster loading, not much capacity difference. The cash price for the CK2620 HST is 22k, financed it’s 24k. You might see if they have the 4030C, a little more lift capacity. That’s the price at CCR where I bought mine. Sounds like you are in that ballpark. Good luck with your purchase. Yes, at this point, I’ll probably keep the backhoe. I appreciate you checking out the video!🚜🇺🇸🍺
@MrEunderwood
@MrEunderwood 10 ай бұрын
@@tractorrookie lots of useful information there, thanks. I assumed there was a difference between cash price and financed price but didn't ask for that in my quote. Do you know if typically the cash price is reserved only for those who buy it flat out or will dealers give you cash price if you put a certain percentage down? I've only ever purchased from individuals so I'm ignorant to buying from a dealer.
@tractorrookie
@tractorrookie 10 ай бұрын
@@MrEunderwood so the cash price is a Kioti incentive like a rebate. So, no. You have to pay for it outright. A third option is to get a loan and pay the cash price, typically you would be at 8% or so, but not a bad option if you pay it off quickly. You would save the 2k difference.

Great video. I bought my Kioti CK3510HST in 2021. I purchased the grapple and 3rd function installed, a tiller, a flail mower and pallet forks at the time of purchase. I still wish I would have gotten the back hoe and I really wish I would have gotten the land plane. I have a lot of gravel parking area at my house that it would come in handy. But I think we all regret something we should have gotten at the beginning. When I think about the land plane only adding about $8.00 a month to my payment compared to having to come up with around$1800.00 to go buy it now I wish I would have just put out the 8 bucks.. from one retired lawman to another keep enjoying the retirement and stay safe brother.

Good video topic and just ran across your channel….I got a Kubota and a lot less land (7acres). I was on tight budget and luckily found a barely used 50+ hp tractor. I picked up some used HD pallet forks at instance of seller of tractor and he was right as they’ve been extremely handy. I wished I listened to him on getting one of the new Bush Hog shredders he had as they’re 3x now what he wanted but figured I only shred 2 or 3 times a year. So my 50 year old undersized Ford Shredder is still taking care of me. When and if it craters, then I will be sad but til then it was good choice to pass on. I have the bucket, hay spear (reason I needed bigger tractor), forks, box blade, straight blade, old shredder and weight box.

I installed a electric 12k winch on the box scraper (top)and find that very useful as I do some logging. Always wanting to make each attachment pay its way, and they do. Installed a camera system for hook up front quick attach stuff and is very helpful, and the rear camera has a very precise look at were the back blade hits the ground very helpful. @@tractorrookie Insurance things. I don't know of administration or juridical issues in your country. Here, when you want to do it officially many times you need to take a class for one day, because otherwise insurance companies may not accept you,but face it, you have like $10.000 worth of machinery or more which hardly wear out. If there are such classes their costs are nothing compared to the value of your machinery and the insurance risks. Other people would like to use it for one or two days for digging a hole for a concrete floor or so, but they never will buy such thing and with renting without an operator one always will have problems with transport. Woods is more $$$ than many. Can use bush hog to also "chip" brush like smaller tree limbs and then 2-3" standing trees tho you must back onto each I have a rotor tiller for wild flowers which I can also use with frond end loader to move/dig a lot of dirt more effectively. Luckily we don't have any rocks in our dirt Fairly often I have huge chainsaw projects so I'm getting a grapple. A mini excavator is far superior in pretty much every way, but if you have the time to use the backhoe and can afford to buy it, then you'll always have it available vs having to go rent. Hi Mad! I think it is cool how those stump buckets have trenching capability. I do not think it would have worked for me because I did several trenches and holes close to obstacles, like buildings and banks. Also, for our primary electric line code called for 42” and the water line, I think was 2’. I’m not sure what depth the stump bucket can go. If I had limited use for a backhoe, I’d rend an excavator. I dug 200’ at 42” in one day and you can always backfill with the tractor. Just my thoughts. Hope it helps! Thanks for watching!Take care! 🚜🍺🇺🇸

Hi Ken! I like it! I love the way it mows and turns. I am annoyed at the rattle sound it has when idling. It’s like metal on metal. The pulleys under the seat. I even took it back to the dealer to have them look at it. They said it was normal. It does not sound normal to me, but they put an extra washer on the pulley. It sounds about the same 🙁 I am one of those guys that does not like rattles and shakes that do not sound good 😊 How do you like the Scag? I appreciate you checking out the video! 🍺🚜🇺🇸

What about a cab?

😊👍 Hi Snapcrack, Good question! I really can not speak to a cab. I can not use one with all the forest work I need to do. I have never had one, but I know people love them. Thanks for checking out the video!! 🚜🇺🇸🍺

😊 Hi Chief119! That’s one of funniest comments I have ever received! Good for you that you found something way better that meets your needs. Obviously, tractors and excavators are completely different machines. There are so many things you can do with a tractor that you can not do with an excavator, on the flip side, excavators are very good at digging, much better than a tractor. Thanks for checking out the video and commenting..🍺🚜🇺🇸

Cheaper to keep it and not use it as much, than to sell it and need it again and have to pay the more expensive price that everything has gone too. The Biden administration has made prices so expensive. I wanted to buy a tractor but I just can’t afford it now!

🙃👍 Hi Jeff! I hear you! Very crazy times. Definitely would not be able to afford to replace it at this point. I hope you get your tractor! Thanks for stopping by the channel! 🍺🚜🇺🇸
