He loved to sing with them and he was very generous. When they (as Cher above) weren't up on harmonizing (I can't, either, so I'm not knocking them) he would fall into harmony (as would Perry Como and does Dolly Parton). Truly the sign of a generous star not to have the melody all the time.

Glen was a studio musician and met Sonny and Cher in the early 60s, where they were in the studios together. They had known each other about 15 years when this was done (videos on youtube showed this).

I have never seen this clip before but several things comes to mind. Campbell does his own guitar work on Southern Nights and its interesting to note that Campbell could have stood up note for note vocally to Cher. R.I.P peace Mr. Campbell.

Correct he did! As well as everybody else in town from the Beach Boyes, Everly Brothers, Frank Sinatra, and so many other groups. He also sang background vocals on some famous albums. A major talent he was.

I saw this on a color TV set without a remote in my parents bedroom! Glen should have had that show of his much longer. Perhaps if he hadn't got caught up in the drugs like every one else, he might have negotiated it longer.... So wonderful that he had the chance to make a farewell tour. The film I'll Be Me on Netflix is well worth the watch. God didn't make little green apples! for nuthin.
