Had the pleasure of seeing Harry in 1979 at a little college in my town 10000 people and Harry sang for well over 3 hours. His son Josh was 7 he danced on stage the whole 2nd half of the show. Harry hung around hours after signing autographs what an amazing man

When I watch this I remember when the world loved Americans. Their enthusiasm, always hopeful of a better day. I wonder what Harry would think of America now? When I heard that Harry had been killed, I fell to my knees. I was embarrassed that the sense of loss I felt for someone who I had only ever seen on a stage. Then I realised that this intimacy I felt was the gift he gave us. Vale Harry Chapin. A life well lived.

I saw Harry three times and loved every one. The last was in Toledo on a terrible, stormy night when Thurman Munson (Yankee Catcher) lost his life in a small plane crash in Akron, OH (Aug 2, 79). Harry sang Mail Order Annie A Capella while waiting for other band memebers to arrive through the storm. A very memorable night!

I had the privilege of seeing Harry Chaplin in Kingston Ont at a Queens University event. 1978 I was 15 years old. He was a few hours late because of a snow storm but hit the stage at maybe 10 pm. He had the crowd totally engaged and it was a life changing moment for me. I fell in love with the Cello and band. Harry Chaplin was incredibly honest and professional. My favorite night of true music from his sole to mine. I’ll never forget how much he meant to all of us that night. RIP Harry.

sometimes i get this crazy dream, that I just take off in my car, but you can travel on 10,000 miles and still stay where you are - there has been no one like Harry - the man gave 1/3 of his earnings to world hunger, God bless you Harry - my first concert this same year Pine Knob - I wish I could be as kind and giving as you were and not to mention your musical genius. SHAME on the 10 people who disliked this video! You have no clue.

Harry Chapin is someone I learned from as far as writing songs..My Mentor..But I have to say I just watched his excellent solo performance of his 10-21-78 Full Concert and it was very fulfilling for me..Excellent showmanship and the crowd was very much part of the show..Sorry to say this venue of a few German folks with their halfhearted response really kind of pissed me off..Great show but I believe Harry would of received a louder response from and alley of castaways than he did at this show..Oh one other thing I firmly believe that Billy Joel would of never had his first hit.."Piano Man" if it hadn't of sounded like it was..You got it..Harry Chapin..If you get a moment check out my tunes on this same channel..Thank You Harry...A Fan

My new wife and i were both fans of Harry Chapin and for my birthday in 1977 she treated me to a live concert of his. We had to drive from our home in New Rochelle, NY to Poughkeepsie, NY. It was a great concert and yes we were up in the cheap seats..haha. Harry loved the folks in the cheap seats. I think this was one of the first times he performed " Dance Band On The Titanic " which we thought was awesome. I wish there was a video of his 1977 Poughkeepsie concert. Harry Chapin was a bright light who burned out too soon. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. .
