You need to take out some foam under that high spot. Sand it, Carve it, whatever it takes to remove that high spot. Remember go slow and test. When you see the trucks going thru there without that motion you showed us in the vid...success!

I got most of it out changing out the foam. I can try sanding it before I glue the track down. Not a bad idea.

I think if you take a sanding block right where the track has a bump in the back corner, that may be enough to get the track to set flat. Probably need to do about 6' or so. Great to see the progress your making.

Seems like the rails are not aligned. The one in the right is slightly higher. Perhaps switching out the rail joiner might work.

Yeah I will pull the track there and take a level to it to see how bad it is. That I will sand it to make the transition as good as I can.

I know your KZbin replies bans links, so I'll just have to say I got this off a model railroader site. "In the March 1979 Model Railroader Magazine, page 147, there was a discussion about calculating vertical curves, flat to constant grade or constant grade to flat. The length was identified as: %age grade change times a constant "K". K values are: 3.2 for N scale" So you'd need a transition of almost 3' to smooth out that change from flat to 4% Wonder whether the bent yardstick method can be used for horizontal transitions?

That is good information. I cut out a chunk of about 4 inches to smooth out the transition. Hopefully that will make a difference. This is what I get for again using 4%.

Don't sand the rails where you're having the disconnection issues. that joint is way too steep and you'll need to sand too much of the rail down to make a guaranteed difference. ease the grade there with the foam like you suggested - take it back towards the station as much as you can. you've got two things working against you - the grade and the curve will play havoc with the couplers if they're even slightly out of alignment. it'll be a bit of work but the results will be worth it.

That is not a bad idea. I will need to pull the track and just play with the area. I will keep your suggestions in mind though as those are great tips! I will not sand the rails though as I agree with you. The foam is the issue. Thank you.
