It was 1978 and a 13yo wide-eyed boy boarded his first commercial jet at Heathrow, a QF 747 bound for Melbourne via Bahrain and Perth. What an experience and it went a long way to distract from the sadness of leaving my world behind. 42 years later I stood on Benbuckler Point, tears streaming from my eyes, as I watched QF7474 majestically disappear towards LAX for the last time. Australia owes a lot to the men and women pilots, crew and ground staff who lovingly made QF 747 flights the absolute gold standard that other carriers could only hope to match.

We will. But, it's just not the same, nor will it ever be. To be really honest, this video made me cry. Yes, I cried. Why? My 1st experience on a plane period, was on a 747. JFK to SJU. Who knew 5 years later, I would become a FA for AA. I have always loved anything and everything having to do with aviation. I did however have another passion. Nursing. After a very short lived life as an FA, I chose my other passion. I have 3 friends that live in Australia. Perth. We only see each other when they come out here (LAX). I have always wanted to see Australia. The airline of my choice of course would be Qantas, and the 747. Never happened.

Sam, an absolute awesome tribute to the Qantas 747. So many emotions and memories. I traveled her since 2000, a total of 18 journeys and 12 of those on the Longreach. As an Australian living in the US, the red tail flying kangaroo brought a tear to my eye. The aerodynamic look of the 747, in 2022, I don't think will ever be matched for style and elegance. Thank you to all those who served her and the final trip to the desert including this other 3 planes that were top to tail is a sad day in history. Again, thank you and I'm a little more depressed and sad having watched this... BUT 10 out of 10 for an excellent tribute and a respectable finale to bid this plane and crew with an amazing send off. I am a plane spotter living in Lakewood, CA and most of the cargo and flights arriving from Australia pass overhead. I am particularly fond of the 747 and think it is probably one of the most beautiful planes ever built. I saw the Queen pass overhead on her way into LAX and what a treat it was to know I was seeing the last arrival. I also watched the flight to Mojave on flightradar24. Great video Sam. I would love to just wander the boneyard there. I flew on some of the Thai Air 747s in their time.

In my opinion, the 747 is the most graceful and majestic aircraft in commercial aviation history. She truly is and will always remain the queen of the skies.

So sad to see the Queen of the Desert! I was fortunate enough to have flown on the Qantas B747-400 many times and was able to score a seat of the farewell flight from Sydney. That was an emotional day knowing it was the last time I would fly in this amazing flying machine.

Thank you very much for this great emotional coverage. I had my fist flight ever in a QANTAS 747 in 2004 from Frankfurt/ Germany to Singapore, then further to Australia. It was so great and I‘m proud to be a part of its history. I had many flights to Australia with the 747, the 777 or the A380. But my first A380 flight was not so emotional than all my 747 flights. And my first business class flight? For sure, a QANTAS 747 🤩🤠 Good bye Queen, I bow to you 😭🤧

It is bittersweet for me to see the 747 on its final landing. My father Captain Harvey Beebe Jr retired from the 747 as a captain after 32 years of meritorious service with Pan Am in 1987. He was an aviation pioneer and trailblazer. The world will never see another pilot like him.

I,an 11 year old and knows a lot about aircraft, really wants to fly on a 747. But I was born a little late for myself and my family to fly in the 747. This video makes me feel that I’m in the plane looking at history from its past flights all around the world and it also gives me what it will look like in about 9-8 years until maybe my first flight on this extraordinary plane. Long live the spirit of Australia, and the Queen Of The Skies!
