Update: Do not use a reducer on the catch can hose, it must be 3/4" all the way. For n54 manifold you can tap the manifold with a brass fitting. For 3si, attach directly to the bung where ccv connected

yes - I put it in the same way so I put it back to 3/4 because the car had no power at low revs.

I forgot to mention in the video, if you're doing this on a 2006 model; delete the oil drain tube section of the CCV that attaches to the oil pan by using a cap that threads into its place from a 328.

Yup throwing a n54 mani in soon definitely doing the ccv delete unless the disa valves last longer with the 3 sim froM less confirmation of oil , hmmm

After replacing my starter and having to remove my intake, I can see why a oil catch can it really needed on the N52, my intake manifold had a lot of oil in it that just drained out...that can't be good for the engine sucking in all that oil laced air. so loop the system back into one port on the bottom side of intake.....wish I seen this video before putting on a new PVC hose and reinstalling the intake. lol

@@RaimundN52 Still will install one, was just looking at the return options on the part I got lmao that's $130 for that ccv hose that I keep calling a PVC (Positive Ventation Connection) hose lol I am buying a aluminum valve cover for mine to solve the plastic BS issues, not sure what to use as a plug on the bottom of the intake manifold.

To be clear. I have a 2011 N52 with integrated PCV. So I buy an old pre-lci metal cover & catch can. It deletes integrated PCV for newer LCI version of N52?

You don't need to change your valve cover, this can be done the same way on plastic top

Hi man! I have the n52 engine with the magnesium cover. I installed an catch can right after the cover ventilation port and before the CCV , my only concern is about crankcase pressure , I read somewhere that the catch can can increasse the pressure in the engine … How is yours? Did you have any leak ?

On the stock intake did you leave the pcv heater wires hooked up.

i have an 06 325i , why would i upgrade to an n54 manifold when i could get the 3.0 3stage mani?

Either would be an upgrade. It depends on your preference. I'm going to copy and paste my response to someone else about n54im vs 3si Blake Lechon I recommend anyone who spends most of the time below 5000rpm to keep their 3 stage. Above 5000rpm, the n54. Because after the first shift at 7500rpm, you are still in the powerband while at WOT. The n54im will be faster while racing which I have tested in actual races and dragy 1/4 mile, 0-60 datalogs. For those with a single stage looking to upgrade, for the cost of new genuine DISAs and a 3 stage manifold, an n54im and throttle body plus a tune could be bought. The n54im also removes two failure points that can destroy an engine, and has a much more linear powerband. So it depends on the person and their preferences. I run an N54im on my daily driver that I also track and did not notice much loss of torque switching from n54im to 3 stage and back to n54im on a 22rpd tune. I did however have a noticeable loss of low end torque on the stagefp tune I had previously. The loss of torque on a stock tune switching from a 3 stage to an n54im is horrendous.

Hi mate just changed to N54 intake with magnesium valve cover and deleted CCv for catch can identical to yours.. What size line did you use to run down to the T junction that comes off the throttle body? Mine looks a little different to yours so I’m assuming you replaced the actual line you T’d into with rubber hose too? Cheers

Is it possible to install 3 port catch can in n52 engine My stock ccv is failing My mechanic suggested me to install a catch can it will resolve the issue and it also suggested to install a 3 port catch can My stock ccv has 3 port and aftermarket catch can has also 3 ports

There isn't really a point to that. Just run one hose from the valve cover to catch can, and one hose from catch can to intake manifold port. Block off any extra ports with a rubber cap

Isn't that needed to return oil back into the pan so it recycles the oil instead of loosing it and constantly draining it and re topping it off with oil

Just tryd it with the block off way bad idea flooded the catch can almost instantly opend the bottom drain valve oil just came rushing out need to be tied into the third port tube with a t barb and return back to pan for proper flow also I add a screen scrub mesh inside the catch can to help flow build up.need a pcv one way inlet thoe from the valve to catch can the flow is to great needs to be restricted a Lil bit and the vacuum line for the intake tube needs to be connected or open for proper fuel to air ratio

Possibly, if the stock ccv was failing. I would also suggest running synthetic 5w40 oil like liquimoly or rotella t6

No, it doesn't help at all, oil catch can only catches oil that passed through the PCV not to be dumped back into the intake, if your engine is burning oil, it means something else is wrong with it i.e pcv, piston oil rings or valve stem seals.
