I got a 2010 bmw 535i e60 and that intercooler fitment was perfect! I was looking at vrsf or arm fmic however I just don’t want to do so much cutting, this answered my worries about fitment and cutting.

how’s the performance on it ? i heard ebay parts can be a hit or miss. i also don’t wanna cut anything. so was the fitment perfect when installing the intercooler ??

@@Slow_C6hey dude, so i got a 08 535i and i got this intercooler and you have to trim a couple inches of useless thin plastic (i did it with scissors lol) this hooked up to the oem quick clamp pipes which made it significantly easier compared to if you got a vrsf. As for performance, it just so happens my buddy has a n54 with the same mods and he has a vrsf intercooler. We both tested and monitored intake temps on the same day within 20 mins of each other My car hovered at 10f above ambient temps, we did two 0-100 pulls back to back and it didn’t got higher then 15 degrees above ambient temp. His car we did the same thing two 0-100 pulls on the same night, with the vrsf went 57 degrees above ambient temp. So this intercooler absolutely destroys vrsf one.

Most people don’t know this, but the 5 series has a full aluminum front end! (Hood fenders and core support) Which is why the weight difference is not that much, even tho the 5 series is much bigger.

Did you have to remove The axle support housing on the oil pan, im planning to install my vrsf downpipes on Thursday, Im using the installation guide by Pelican parts rn, do you know any other good recourses for a step by step guide on the awd models also do you know of any other difference for the awd that I will have to do other than disconnecting the passenger side axle? Love the build.

It’s not 100% necessary to remove the axle support. But it will definitely give you more room. I was doing my oil pan gasket so it needed to come out anyway.

I used the stock trans cooler mount, but flipped up against the bumper support. I drilled two holes in the bumper support to hold the stock mount in place. I also had to cut the stock mount to allow air flow through it.

I just wish you wouldn’t have gone through so fast and actually explained the steps for removing the front passenger control arm and hub. The other videos out there on the 335i’s explain everything else enough for me but since I have the same 535i X Drive I’d like to know what tools are required to remove the passenger control arm and hub as well as torque specs and what not.

You can look at any E90 or E92 X Drive front suspension removal and it will be the same process. Torque specs are all available online. Please let me know if you have any specific questions I can answer.

Yes! The axle can come out on X drive cars, to avoid dropping the subframe

@@Mickeymouse-lc2ys stuck with that vrsf 7.5" intercooler. Just needed to make my own brackets out of scrap metal and my tig welder. Also needed some 3" - 2.5" reducers for now.

The specific x-drive version of the VRSF downpipes, fit without modification.

I got the x Drive version as well, and am having fitment issues all around. There’s about an inch gap between the downpipe and axle, but when I’m turning left 25+ mph they will rub together.

The downpipes and the inner axel should not move no matter what speed you are going. You could be rubbing axle and sway bar if you are lowered.

Downpipes are the only thing that will effect your emissions readings. You won’t pass a catalytic converter test with catless downpipes. It depends on your state if that affects passing or not.

How did you get that axle out and is it still the oem one? I've been trying to take mine out to put the stock cats back in order to pass emissions but it won't come out more than like 3-4". I think i even broke the axle at the second knuckle trying to pull it. At this point with all the time and struggle i wish i had just dropped the subframe.

i have a 2010 535i Xdrive, on stage 2 plus tune with just over 400HP... love my car! very fast fun car!.. just wish mine was a manual! 😒.. all i have done is the charge pipe, BOV, down pipes, step colder spark plugs, and MSD stage 2 plus tune.. stock intercooler and everything else... next is my intercooler, inlets, transmission tune and meth injection... then i will daily it for a year and then im going to sell it...i just hit 85k miles today... will be selling it around 100k miles what would people pay for it?> very clean! also lots of interior upgrades..system...etc... 😈

Whattttt whyd u remove the axle 😂 I did my catless dps without removing axle or subframe. You only have to lower the subframe on the 335xi.

535xi and 335xi subframes are not the same. You can not remove the stock cats without lowering the subframe or axle on the 535xi.

It’s a retrofit from a 550i. There are harness for sale or you can do it yourself. Search “E60 paddle shift retrofit”.

You won’t get any codes with the correct tune. Only if the sensor isn’t working. A new sensor fixed the issue, and hasn’t been a problem since.
