@badguacamole37092 жыл бұрын
@@emilyharpist whoever made this was definitely inspired by Devi Ever. That legend of fuzz graphic was first used on one of her pedals. Very video game like sounds came out of that pedal. Devi conceived the Devi Ever "Console". Came up with a design schematic and a Kickstarter. Had a bunch of independent pedal makers working with her to make cartridge pcbs. She ended up spending the $40,000 she raised and running off into the sunset. Cool idea I'm glad to see someone finally put it all together. The main difference is where the "console" had an Atari aesthetic whereas this is an N64 / GameCube aesthetic.

Me: Oh, a box cutter, this should be fine. Emily: *goes galaxy brained and develops an all new box cutter technique for maximum danger* As someone who grew up with the N64 and GBA (my controller was Atomic Purple) this is delightful, and puts the pedal obsession in context. Also these sound really really good, I was not expecting this quality and versatility; these aren't just clones (to my ears, or maybe you're just using unusual settings). All play really well together, I think. Delay was my favorite because of course it is. Love the resting finger sound on the distortion/fuzz carts, it's almost ASMR inducing. It's been done a few times before and it still hasn't caught on. Though it looks cooler, it's actually a worse version of the other attempts like the Biyang Livemaster or Yamaha PSE-40a since the carts have a lot of empty space and it's only able to run 2 pedals at a time.

as an effects fiend and an N64 fan, this whole thing just warms my heart 😁 I just noticed, when you adjusted the knob on the delay cart, it responded like an analog delay. I have the MXR Carbon Copy delay and a Boss ME50-B bass multi-effects unit (including digital delay), and being able to warp sounds just by adjusting the knobs is super fun! but the digital delay makes all these strange chopping noises (think of the "Why the long face" song from the last episode of BoJack Horseman), which is a neat sound in its own way, but I prefer the more subtle gradual shift on an analog delay, like you're messing with the pitch control of a record player by gradually speeding up or slowing down the platter. whoever put this together knows their stuff
