I used to love Micro Machines. That was my hidden gem:) Perfect Dark and Golden Eye were my two favourites. Then Mario Kart 64 and Smash Bros. I liked one player Diddy Kong Racing. Perfect Dark and Golden Eye was my life though on this system.

Awesome video! I dunno if I agree with blast corps though, mostly cuz I was one of those kids that only had one console and at the time there was like 12 games out for the 64, so that particular game for me was very well known, and very loved. I remember it came out when turok came out, rented both, bought blast corps. I would have to say though, Conker's Bad Fur Day definitely deserves a spot on this list though. Soooooo many people never heard about it till Conker Live and Reloaded, and even then still didn't play it. Came out super late in the n64 life cycle, was definitely a hard M rated game, albeit I remember the platforming being better than most people seem to rate it as, amazing dialogue and voices. Every time I find it at a garage sale or somewhere it isn't super marked up I pick it up.

Have you ever played Goemon's Great Adventure? I'm pretty sure it's even more unheard of then the first Mystical Ninja on the N64. It's a pretty good, difficult 2.5D platformer. The cutesy graphics also made me think of Yoshi and Kirby so it can feel nostalgic even if it's your first time playing.

If you end up doing another list of N64 gems, I would recommend talking about Jet Force Gemini and Dr. Mario 64. Both of those games have fallen into obscurity, even though both are fantastic; and Dr. Mario 64 was the first and currently only Dr. Mario game in the series to have 4 Player modes.

The N64's library is fine the way it is, people act like it having less games than the PS1 is so bad, but really it just makes it easier to keep track of them and find good ones, it's why the Wii U's library is perfectly fine and the PS4 having way more games isn't such a big deal. At least I think so, I have a huge collection of N64 games and still have a huge list of N64 games I'm looking for. So yes, I think the N64's library is fine with it's count.
@RGT858 жыл бұрын

RetroGamingTube 85 To this day it still stands. I mean I know you have a PS4 and love it, but I hated it, I actually sold it months ago, it may have a huge library, but the content isn't very good in my opinion, whereas I get way out mileage out of my Wii U, even with it's smaller library. This is just me though.

I love that you mentioned Body Harvest, although I thought it was so clunky that it was totally unplayable. Clearly GTA3 was its spiritual successor. I also think that Turok 3 doesn't get enough respect. Lastly, another racer that was a lot of fun was Lego Racers. There weren't many tracks, but the powerups were well designed, and you could build you own cart.

That was interesting ! I remember some of these games getting absolutely trashed and ridiculed in game magazines. As a kid I really enjoyed these violent reviews and had a good laugh at the expense of Chameleon Twist, Nuclear Strike and Body Harvest especially. Back then I didn't have the insight to challenge these opinions, but I see there is something to be said in favor of these too. Maybe it was for the best since I didn't have the funds to get all the "good" games I wanted anyway , but I guess I won't scoff at these anymore if I happen upon them in some yard sale.
@RGT858 жыл бұрын
+Richard Zo honestly body harvest is one of the best games on the console. If I did a top 10 N64 games it would make the list. Chameleon Twist isn't great but it's solid enough and cheap enough to make it fun. And I love the strike series. Thanks for watching!
