What did you do with those extra two pieces? I saw you had them in your hand and put them to the side but I didn't see you install them. I just got one and I'm trying to figure out what those two pieces go to?
@whitehairvillain36 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure they go inside on either side of the cartridge holder... I abandoned mine too, because you'd need two extra screws to install them... Plus they are unnecessary... Although it would be cool to use them if you can be bothered... 🤷

the only thing im not sure about is mine came with two extra pieces, and there is no instructions to tell you what each piece is for so i have no clue what they are used for, my original console shell didnt have these pieces so i assume they are only for certain console revisions like japan vs NA or something idk

I'm currently in the process of refurbishing and modifying my childhood N64 so I can play games from both US and Japan, and I'm currently looking for a replacement for the top shell since there is a chip in the back and some of these screw holders kinda broke.... Word of advice for anyone interested in modding your 64... BE SURE TO BE CAREFUL WHEN TAKING APART AND PUTTING YOUR SYSTEM BACK TOGETHER
@GREENACEx0095 ай бұрын
This might be a dumb question but can you totally swap an American N64 board with a Japanese one so they are both in the opposite shell? (Got a cool Japanese shell but the insides are a bit rusty)

We only got a glimpse, but I was interested how good the picture from the N64 was on your CRT TV. What cables do you hook it up with?
@theconsolecollector2 жыл бұрын
I run S video cables for my N64
@digitalblasphemy11002 жыл бұрын
@@theconsolecollector I just wanted to add a little tid-bit here even though it wasn't asked: When playing the N64 on a CRT, I started with upgrading to a quality handmade in US S-Video cable and noticed an improvement. I bought into RGB modding the 64 so I purchased an RGB modded NS1 N64 and used the HD Retrovision component cable on the same 36" Sony Trinitron TV and swapped between S-Video and Component, took close up photos etc. I swear to you, the perceptible difference is ZERO in my opinion and I have absolutely OBSESSED over the picture quality of the N64. Having said that, I ultimately purchased a jungle green N64 modded with Borti's Advanced RGB along with the deblur switch and THAT is the ultimate analogue option hands down. Even without the deblur, there is something about borti's RGB mod that enhances the RGB a noticeable amount compared to the NS1 RGB mod. Anyway, to sum up, a quality S-video cable is the way to go but if you want to go crazy, get borti's rgb mod with deblur switch. If deblur is not appealing to you, do not RGB mod, it is not worth the difference in quality. I cannot even tell at all.

When taking apart the console you do not need to pop out the Jumper or Expansion Pak. It will come out with the top shell.

Also, I suggest a #2 Phillips for most screws though you will need a smaller one for the two on either side of the memory expansion slot.

I like the ear and the extreme green they offer. Honestly the quality is amazing. I can't even tell the difference between the original funtastic n64 and this shell. I've had some cheaper overseas shells for gba and DS and they were poor quality but this one I was impressed with
