So yes, I am one of the backers of the Atari VCS. I backed the woodgrain version with the classic joystick and modern controller. It cost me a total of $339.00 + $25.00 Shipping. Since you wanted to know why someone would spend that much money for this, let me explain. My brother is a game historian. He works for a museum that archives and saves video games, among other kinds of games. Both he and I have had a deep love for video games since we were both children. The very first video game experience we had as children with a console was actually at a friend's house who owned an atari, and it was amazing. My parents surprised us that Christmas with a vectrex and a few games, and although we are both adults now, and we both have modern consoles, a few years ago he purchased a vectrex both as a Historian, and as a gamer with nostalgic tendencies. I knew when I saw this thing that it was a giant money pit with probably a raspberry pi board and an emulator chip with a hundred games on it, and that it wasn't worth what they were asking for it. I believe they had already started releasing the mini consoles that are emulators, so I knew like something that played atari games and probably have the entire library on it could be made for a few dollars, probably cost $40 on amazon or something. But I also knew this was a licensed atari product (whatever that means) insofar as it's not a knockoff, you are buying a genuine atari product even if the people that own it now are not the people that made it then, but that's neither here nor there. It's a gorgeous, modern design, and anyone that says its not is lying. It is a beautiful $339 paperweight with woodgrain, that does evoke some nostalgic purpose in me being the older brother, I know my younger brother will love this thing. Because of that, I felt like you can't buy the overwhelming bond of a shared loved of a stupid childhood toy, you certainly can't put a price tag on it, but you can for a moment make someone happy. My truth. I placed the order back in 2018, and have been hoping each Christmas that I would get this thing so I can surprise my brother with it. Maybe this year? If it's a little late, he'll understand. P.S. About a month ago my brother, his wife, his son, and daughter all contracted COVID. He still has no idea how he got it, they think maybe the children got it from neighbor kids, or something. Everyone was fine except my brother who for a few days scared the shit out of all of us. But Christmas will go on this year, and maybe I can finally give him the thing.

Not sure why you keep picking on Shenmue mate, call yourself a fan and you're blatantly just following the clickbait trend of dragging it's name through mud. Anyone that didn't know any better receiving this information from you, of course they're not going to back towards a Shenmue 4 because you've got it in their heads that this whole thing was a scam. It couldn't be far from the truth. Ys-Net gave everyone Epic keys as promised, if you backed the PC version...which technically didn't say anything about Steam until the surveys were sent out, everyone just expected it to be because at the time Epic wasn't even a thing. Then if people actually bothered to read the KS updates, they would have known that Ysnet were sending out an email for people that also wanted to get a Steam code for free. They did their part. As part of Shenmue Dojo, we made it clear across all of our networks, and so did YsNet that this would be happening. I assume they can't just generate 64k steam keys, so they provided them to people that wanted them. So there's no drama here at all. And the reason the game is on sale on Steam is because why would they charge £50 again for it a year on? The game had been on sale on Epic etc, that would have caused even more drama had they had sold it full price. Anyone that really wanted to play this game on PC, could have just double clicked the Epic icon on their desktop and played it for the past year, and still got a steam key. So that $60 you went on about, they had their value already with 2x copies of the game and a physical PC copy. Again no drama only from KZbin's channel like yourselves causing it and supplying incorrect information, and the obvious blind Kickstarter backers that have got nothing better to do than kick off at every little thing. Yes the Kickstarter wasn't great overall, but they did their part and supplied everything that was promised, stop putting this game and it's legacy in your "KickScammer" videos, there is no scam, people are just greedy.

Just looked that up. That’s a heck of a rabbit hole right there. I feel like the company that did that figured out the same thing that seven seas did when they originally licensed it. My "human eyes" can definitely notice lag if it's more than about three frames. lol They're still being a bit deceptive there, btw. The HDMI mod *does* take digital video from the RCP/DAC, but it then converts directly to analog RGB via a resistor DAC (at least on the versions of the mod I've seen). It then feeds that analog RGB (and analog audio) to their HDMI scaler chip, hence the quality isn't quite as good as it could have been. Which is a shame, because I personally don't think the price is too bad at all for a "convenience" product. Although having decent HDMI quality is kind of half the point. Otherwise you could just buy a stock NTSC N64 on eBay, plus a brand-new repro controller, one of the cheap RGB to HDMI cables, and pay for a simple RGB mod for less money.

From the people who brought you Russian Roulette comes the game that will really catch your eye... Beer Darts
@JohnDoe-kv3kd4 жыл бұрын
Ironically I think most people would probably prefer to take a dart to the eye as opposed to where you would take it with playing this.
@HeyDonutJudge4 жыл бұрын
I have an even better idea on how to improve the beer darts: Russian Beer Roulette! Get a friend, place a beer can on top of each others heads. Then take a revolver, remove some bullets and just fire away, fun for the whole family! If a bullet hits the beer can, your friend has to drink it (if he's still alive)

It's strange that so many Kickstarter campaigns don't raise any red flags when the owners can't use proper grammar. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if I'm going to take a product seriously, the "marketing material" must make sense and give me confidence. And this isn't just splitting hairs or having a grammar stick up my butt. If you look at scam\falsely advertised websites and products, they ALL have egregious spelling and grammar errors that help the viewer realize that they are not qualified to sell pencils, let alone complex technology. I realize that plenty of smart people don't have great grammar, but they at least use the correct words so you know what they mean. Unlike this: "we want to apologize for our campaign detail didn't clear cause lot of confuse" Sure, you can assume what that's supposed to mean, but it's also clear that they have NO grasp of English language, so their products PROBABLY aren't going to be advertised correctly due to the language barrier.

I would back Shenmue 4 as soon as it went up,I also preordered the ps4 version. As far as I know the PC people had awhile to decide if they wanted to switch to the ps4 version. As for people being mad about epic games I got it at the time to see how bad it was , and I gotta say the epic game store is an awesome service they give out free games all the time. It made me feel that the people complaining about the steam thing look entitled and posh to me , I mean really you gotta be pretty stuck up to not want to even try another game service to play a game that most of us had been waiting a long time to play.
@lpnp94774 жыл бұрын
I literally work for Epic and I just didn't like getting something I didn't pay for. People throw around the "entitled" label entirely too much. Maybe gain some perspective from others and don't judge? And maybe look up what "entitled" actually means?
@vegetafett4 жыл бұрын
@@lpnp9477 im sorry but as someone who grew up dirty poor. Yes it is very entitled and I honestly doubt most people who actually played the other shenmue games would care about such a thing. In fact im friends with a ton of people that love shenmue and not one of them cared about this. Point being you didn't even have to get another machine you just have to download an installer if your to proud for that to play a "video game" then yes you are a snob. Sorry just spouting truth here.
@lpnp94774 жыл бұрын
@@vegetafett If you say "spouting truth" then maybe bring something other than conjecture and opinion. One, entitled means you have a right to something. It doesn't mean you think you do. It literally means something belongs to you. "You are entitled to social security benefits." That doesn't mean people think they're owed social security - it means they should receive it since they paid into it. See the difference? Next, I also grew up dirt poor! My only console from 11-16 was a Dreamcast, which is where I fell in love with Shenmue. Finally, the more you people say "It's just a launcher", the more you demonstrate how out of touch you are. It's a loss of steam controller remapping, steam achievements and Steam in-home streaming. Things my colleagues have yet to implement to my satisfaction. I'm glad you enjoy the Epic launcher, but let's not pretend it works for everyone's needs. To tell people they're "snobs" because they paid for a steam key and were told they would receive something else entirely just because it's on the same platform is completely silly, to say it nicely. You don't get to decide what's important to other people. I mean dude, I work for Epic, I have the fucking launcher installed. I wanted to be able to stream it from my PC to my tablet in bed to get cozy with some Shenmue because I put my hard earned money up on the Kickstarter to make it happen. Why don't I get to enjoy it the way I want? Why do you get to judge me for that?
@vegetafett4 жыл бұрын
I wish people understood that they were funding something and not guaranteed a product. Its not the same as pre ordering a game at a store things change during production and manufacturing.
@lpnp94774 жыл бұрын
@@vegetafett Sure, if they simply couldn't have delivered the game that would have been fine. But what happened was Epic paid a ton of money to Deep Silver to snatch it away from Steam at the last minute at the expense of backers. That's pretty fucked up. And since we're talking about billionaire corporations here, there is no sympathy to give. People seem to want to use that excuse as a shield against criticism for any shitty thing a business does on Kickstarter, but the fact is that it was on track for Steam and Deep Silver decided to take extra money instead of honouring the pledges.

I'm glad I dodged the Atari VCS non-sense. I had originally been looking at it because then, and no longer remember if this was official or a rumor article, they were making a modern console that would take the original 2600 carts, making it possible to play them on modern TVs without a whole lot of hassle. As soon as it became something else, or was confirmed to be something else, I completely lost interest. I still get the newsletter and every time I get one, it tells me nothing new or exciting. But it does give Atari a way to remind me they are getting into the cryptocurrency market with their own currency. Because of course, they are.

"Aidan made this in class" 1. So he's what, up to 18? Older? Poor little tyke. 2. Maybe he should have been paying attention. He might've learned something for his future career. It might even have been relevant to board game design. 3. Who the hell gave him the idea that this crayola scrawl on a refill pad page was a winning idea, and encouraged him to set up on kickstarter in the first place? 4. Would a fake pledge be more or less humiliating than watching the pledges remain at a steady zero for the entire run of the campaign, or until such time as Aidan pulled it? Boy was headed for red-faced disappointment either way.
