Saw the Darkmatter Xbox at a few shows. It was pretty solid. But there's a HUGE gulf between making a prototype and a product, which I why I only ever built 360 laptops by request for a limited # of people.

Not gonna lie, the eye kinect could actually be a very good accessibility device for people without hands/arms or that have troubles moving them too much. I would assume most people backing that project were in that category, making their exit scam much worse.

14:20 That's not even an impressive level of eye tracking - i have a Tobii Eye Tracker, and it does far better job. Actually, why did that Kickstarter even exist when there was already a $150 consumer eye tracking solution sold at that time? 17:41 Oooof... Not a good makeup. Look at those red inflamed-looking eye shadows. Is that really how you want your model to look like when promoting an eye tracker? The look kind of saying "our gadget will burn your bloody eyes out".

@lass kinn Yeah, but not as a consumer-sold device - you, as just a person, couldn't really just go to their site and buy one (and especially not for a reasonable price). Back when that Kickstarter happen there were openly sold consumer solutions with game integrations. That's what i meant

THE 360 laptops thing isn't a scam. even with less than 40 people, do you realise how many HUNDREDS of hours it take to make such a thing ? The 3D printing alone is gonna take hundreds of hours, the post processing too. They were to ambitious but they delivered.

I had a Gaems case for my 360 when I deployed to Afghanistan. The difference is that tinkerer case was going to have a battery which the Gaems case didn't. I'd have plopped down $200 more if it didn't require a plug to play. The one time I took it on the road the tent I was in didn't have a plug available to play so I had to go play in the back of the MRAP and burn diesel to play. It just stay in my room back at the home base after that.

Actually, hardware specs can be open as well. For instance, the PC spec had to be released by IBM due to a monopoly ruling (but they kept the BIOS spec as an IP so you didn't get any clones until someone reverse-engineered it). However, this particular project seems just to be a kit to assemble.

Some of those Halo crowdfunders remind me of this one machinima I stumbled upon that claimed to be a crossover between the uploader's machinima series and Red vs Blue but it turned out he was lying and it's actually just his own machinima with RvB characters and stock audio indicating no real involvement from Rooster Teeth (when I questioned him about it he claimed they wouldn't mention it on their own site which is a pretty obvious cover-up for his lies, takes more than that to fool someone like me who's been lied to all my life).

Nah. Having tons of back compat helps. Still, they put a bit too much faith in Halo when they could've pushed a game like Bleeding Edge or Battletoads to launch for something to play. Still, Gears 5 DLC next month and the upgrade to that game is great. Undeniably PS5 has the stronger launch lineup though. I bought PS5 for the launch games, I bought Series X to invest in the future (like the new Bethesda games) and play my old games in 4K HDR.

I really don't know why some people still think that the Kinect was wanted because they were controlling "better" XD I used them for training and it worked extremely well. If you have the space -which not everyone has- and good lighting -which not everyone has- of cause. The camera worked also good for me and that even after falling to the ground so many times. I was to cheap and didn't buy the thing you need to put it on top of the monitors. Well it still works somehow...but ring Fit Adventure is easier to set up and more fun then the hardcore training games on Xbox360.

These kind of Kickstarter indiegogo campaign things are always predictable as hell. They all promise more than they ever deliver and they always either pray on your hopes and dreams or your nostalgia. I've only ever barely done Kickstarter stuff and it was for that Mcable. Got it at a discount totally worth it.

As far as I can tell, there aren't any exclusives on PS5 either. It looks like everything is also on PS4 or PC. The closest things I think there are is the Playroom tech demo and the Demon's Souls remake, depending on if you think enough has changed to actually call that an exclusive.

FWIW I've worked with a lot of eye tracking systems and they can be super precise. And I'm sure Tobii sued the crap out of them, they're the market leaders by far. There's some interesting work on eye tracking via regular webcams that kinda work

If you played with the gamepad like I did even with my gigantic hands, you hated the Wii U version with a passion and wished it didn’t exist. And before anyone says anything, no I didn’t have wiimotes. I had just sold my Wii because I needed money for the Wii U, didn’t know the controllers were compatible, and wanted to play the newest Pikmin. I returned Pikmin 3 after finishing it for money for Smash Wii U since I had spent all my savings on the console alone.
