I installed n8n a long time ago, but didn't find a use case for it at the time. Your videos recently have given me a lot of ideas, so I can' t wait for the selfhosting videos - just to make sure I did it correctly.

Great stuff! My question is about what you know about use cases for Make, n8n and Zapier and what each one is best for. Also the cost and capabilities of each one regarding small, medium to large companies.
@wohfab2 күн бұрын
n8n is most definitely the cheapest in most situations. As it is self-hostable you can run it locally/on-premise. Huge advantage for data conscious people or organizations that handle sensitive data. I think for the absolute beginner, there would be an argument of Zapier/Make being a little more user friendly, but especially if you want to create useful and complex stuff, or even are in it for the cash $$$, if the user-friendliness is your main concern, you're gonna fail. Setup n8n, run n8n, do stuff with it. Learn about it. Learn with it.

Sup Nick! I've been selling n8n automations to clients for a few months now and have made quite a good amount of money from it. Im looking to give back to the community in the same way youre doing. I'd like to share my automations and knowledge about n8n, ai coding, make, etc. What software do you use to record you vids?

Doesn’t make have more integrations? Why you pick n8n?
@TheAIEncounter6 күн бұрын

@ToxylTV6 күн бұрын
@@TheAIEncounter im just learning about it, I will definitely try it and see if I can add it to my agency!
@wohfab2 күн бұрын
@@ToxylTV depending on what you do, cost and data privacy is a big reason for me to keep n8n. Also, number of integrations isn't really an argument. If you would actually need more than 1000 integrations to do your work, you have bigger problems ;) And with custom code node (JS & Python) you don't really hit a barrier with n8n anyways. What I mostly love about n8n is its capability to self-host and thus combine with local software as well. I can run image optimizers, local LLMs, and much more, and have them securely and privately talk to each other.

How do you connect client's google account in this case, and if there is a way to connect to a business email with IMAP?
@nicksaraev5 күн бұрын
You can absolutely connect via IMAP-use the "Email Trigger (IMAP)" node + "Send Email" nodes. Re: client's Google account, I always get them to either share their logins directly or I get them to make me an admin account on their Workspace (do this over a kickoff call to keep things simple and avoid 2FA issues).

It seems your recent vids are more on N8N compared to make, which one would you declare as the better product, and which one should a new person time their time learning, both maybe?

I think n8n offers benefits when you want to build systems that include AI on the heavier side. When you want to build relatively simpler systems, might be easier to do in make because it has more integrations and could basically make your life much simpler by just dragging a module instead of messing with bunch of APIs and doing it all by yourself. Obviously that is just my view, and these things serve same purpose. I might be a little biased but would say you to learn n8n. If you get stuck somewhere check if maybe it can be done in make easier and if it has module you will get around it pretty much because concepts are the same.
@Truth_Unleashed9 күн бұрын
I tend to agree with what David just said. N8N is better than make in many ways. The big downside is it's more technical and challenging but can be adapted to almost any flow in addition it is free if you self host which can be done in a couple hours max.

Hey Nick, are you going to upload n8n focussed in depth tutorials and workflows into your paid skool community from now onwards? I want to focus solely on one tool i.e. n8n and don’t want to start with make as of you , as your community name is Maker school i am bit of sceptical about it

Question: Why did it matter for you to describe the AI system role as a 'helpful intelligent email writer' if you just went ahead and told it what to say in the email? Is there a specific reason, or how does that help?
@MaxWeir757 күн бұрын
Can you do a price comparison between common automation tools? Plus pros and cons etc N8N is very similar to Make which you’ve covered a lot, but N8N pricing is quite different which means it’s another expense. But N8N is the new kid on the block, and I’m seeing it mentioned a bit more these days.

Hi Nick! Where would you start if you have zero automation experience and are not sure if what niche you want to enter? I have about $20k capital, so i am prepared to do whatever it takes. Starting out with so little experience can be a little intimidating and overwhelming. Thanks

I'd take one of my free automation courses to get you started + join Maker School. My free playlists can be quite long (Make.com one is 50+ hrs iirc) so don't feel like you have to watch everything before you start the program - first ~dozen vids will suffice. Important thing is to start interfacing w potential customers asap. You got this 🙏🏼

Can one self-host n8n with Replit's 25$ plan?
@wohfab2 күн бұрын
You can self-host n8n locally for free, on a 5 bucks Digital Ocean Droplet or on a 5 bucks Hetzner VPS. Depending on what else you would run on that replit plan, you probably don't hit the ceiling anytime soon.

And rather paying 50$ to a community, I will learn - learn and learn ( a particular skill ) and with the help of those 50$ I will purchase something { it can be anything, some ai or ai agents or any tangible product or service } , upgrade it with the help of my skill that I have learned ,AND SELL IT IN HIGHER PRICE !!. That does not mean his N8N 1hour gives no value, instead I loved the video and it ofcourse was my right decision to INVEST my precious time on this video.
