Point 2: When you live in a society you gotta take care of you as well as your community unless you're selfish af and prefer to live like a caveman. Point 3: "as long as you're not a carrier" - defies all the purpose. You'll never know if you're a carrier. Some people are asymptomatic. Being asymptomatic doesn't mean they can't spread the virus. This is an underrated and excellent video. Many people are using high end 3M respirators thinking it's better than regular masks. What they don't realize is, respirators don't filter or block the out-going breath/sneeze - so others are still at risk from you. The best thing for community safety is to wear regular N95 or cloth masks WITHOUT valves.

I wear my N-95 with exhale valve then I put a cloth mask over it . I find it most comfortable for breathing and protecting myself and others . If you tape over the exhale valve like some videos suggest , it breaks the seal around your face .

Good to hear that you are comfortable with N95. I would like to point out that if your N95 is having good fit then there is no need to put cloth mask over it. N95 is sufficient and cloth mask wont add any filtration efficiency to it (only thing cloth mask (over N95) can do is make the fit better around face)

@@Sciencified Some have recommended taping over the exhaling valve . When I tried that I couldn’t breath comfortable at all . That’s when I saw someone’s idea about putting a cotton mask over it to filter the valve 👀. Well hopefully it works because it is comfortable. I like the space and not having a mask lay against my mouth . Thanks so much

Do you mean that the valve spreads the virus but will not let the virus to enter ?? (works as one way valve for the virus from the person to the environment but not vice versa?

Yes the valves are one way: they only filter the incoming air or the air you inhale, not the exhaled air. Valves were not developed for coronavirus or any virus but for the occupational people.

Yes! Wearer is safe. But if wearer happens to be infected with virus then yes virus will be exhaled out of mask and result in contamination.

Thats why Governments of many countries have issued warning/advisory for exhalation valve. This becomes more of concern for children and people with respiratory issue who cant wear N95 and will inhale exhaled virus (by symptomatic/ asymptomatic wearer of N95 with exhalation valve) Do share this video with your friends and acquaintances for awareness. Thank you. Nice video. I will N95 mask with valve soon as it eases the breathing. I am surrounded by dumb people who don't use mask. So I don't care about them. I want to protect myself from dumb people around.

Thanks a lot!! Wearing without valve N95 mask can strain breathing in many people and for them valved N95 is convenient. But if one can wear without valve mask, then definitely one should.

Plz watch video carefully before drawing conclusion. Nowhere, in the video n95 masks are said to be unsafe. Its about the exhalation valve. Its proven thing that valves are one way. It doesnt filter virus if a infected person exhale. Why to contaminate surroundings, if you have option.

Just in case, you missed the point 😁: N95 masks come with as well without exhalation valve. Avoid N95 with exhalation valve until you dont have option. Go with N95 mask without exhalation valve. And plz go through this video carefully for the reason.

Duct Tape the inside of the mask to cover up the valve, but try explaining that to anyone around you that cares to mention your mask is wrong.

Researchers have provided sufficient evidences for "mask" effectiveness, literature is full of evidences. Do read before making such comments. You need to know two basic things: 1) Corona is carried by aerosol/droplets, which maybe range from 1000nm to 80 micron if a person coughs, similarly experimental numbers are available for sneezing, breathing etc. These droplets will carry virus, even if we go by your number 300 to 600 nm then also all these viruses emitted by speaking, coughing will be captured. Severity of covid is linked with amount of exposure. Even if we assume that small fraction of viruses have some how detached with particles and are present in nascent form, then also you are blocking rest of the viruses emitted by talking, breathing etc and hence reduced loading of virus. 2) N95 masks are tested at most penetrating size which is 0.3 micron, i.e. this size will have least efficiency, in case of N95 it is 95% but other sizes will have more efficiencies than this. By the way, aerosol or particles trapping is not like sieve filtering. Read about how aerosol filtration works, then you will understand, its not about the size of holes in the filter.

Gandu. Corona viruses don't have wings. They travel with droplets. Droplets are easily filtered by the masks. Don't assume.
