@@KarolOfGutovo It'll be the ones the Soviets have to regularly service. The last seventy years, the thought behind nuke was you either keep them in as hardened, hard to damage sites as you can...or you keep them on the move and as hidden as you can. Satellite based weapons do neither.

Wow, what an episode! And for those who do not know, the US did something very similar to what N9 did here in the 80's. But instead of an SR-71, an F-15 Eagle was used, and did indeed destroy a satellite(albeit a US one as part of a test) in orbit. Now I need an F-15 to come in FAK!

The big part is the implications of setting up a precedent for essentially *unlimited space warfare* . It would be really interesting to see everyone get out of starting a World War Three now, it might require extending the definition of national airspace a few hundred kilometers up at the very least

Hopefully there is an agreement made in future between the USSR and USA that, since both nations have proved the ability to shoot down each others satalites. they will not do so again except in retaliation to the destruction of one of their own satellites.

Hate to be that guy but as Pogoda 1 was already in orbit, that's actually not the case The fragments would spread out into a little ring of debris around the Earth Check out the results of the November 2021 Russian ASAT test, it has a very similar profile :)

@rdyPenguin Didn't the US shoot down a satellite in a very similar manner with an F-15 and found most of the dangerous debris was gone something like 5 years later? I dont think Kessler syndrome would be a major issue their when its all gone pretty quickly.

Excited to see some escalation. Setting the stage for a Jamestown crisis style conflict. I know it’s another mod to deal with, but BD armoury defensive turrets would be a cool addition. Just placing one could be an escalation. And it would place an impetus to place one first at key lunar locations, since whoever did that would be able to deny the other access, allowing for an organic conflict escalation.

Tbh even though they're not adding any further factions, it would be cool if the soviets chinese allies decide this is a step too far and the sino-soviet split occurs, with the KSNA starting up their own domestic rocket production to match up to their former friends... In turn, multiple other middle powers (India , Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa) could see this as a trend to counter American and soviet space antics and start up their own programs in turn...

I just wanna say, I think your style of making these episodes is beautiful - equal parts storytelling, let's play, and educational. I have to ask, tho, do you have any plans to make a single-player KSP series with this style? You can even have ships controlled by AI and have ship battles. There’s a few vids of it in use on KZbin, and I’ve made a couple on my channel. Highly recommend.
