What makes you think it was single action ? Just because he cocks it with his thumb doesn’t make it a single action. If you listen close enough to the sound of the thumb hammer being pulled it makes two clicks. That means that the weapon he was cocking was a dual action because a single action only makes one click. And it is very possible to create what happened in the film, maybe not to the extend of that many shots though.

@Omicron716 Жыл бұрын
This is why I believe he didn't take the poker hand. Some people are saying it's because of superstition and he was afraid to, but I think it plays into the theme of him being a Misanthrope. The hand itself was good, and he likely could've won with it. I think the fact that he did it to instigate a fight becomes obvious when you look back at the cantina scene, where he comes in claiming to want a drink, kills six people, and then leaves without ever getting a drink. He never really wanted one in the first place.
@kieranadamson3224 Жыл бұрын
@@Omicron716 I wouldn't go that far, he clearly has an ego about his six shooter skills. We see that clearest in his final duel when his hubris catches up to him. But I wouldn't say he's instigating fights just to kill. He just seems to have a very "laid back" approach to life with no regard for any threat because he's confident he's got it outmatched.
@rustyshackleford9637 Жыл бұрын
Smiling doesn't necessarily indicate emotion. Sometimes when your adrenaline dumps you might just appear to be smiling, also the natural fight or flight reaction makes your jaw tighten up and your testicles shrink up closer to the body, it's a natural defense mechanism because getting hit in either location when things are loose and just hanging can either knock you out cold or put you in the fetal position. There are other examples of what your body does, sometimes people cry when they are extremely angry. Tears may be dripping out of someones eyes as they bash anothers skull in. It's strange what the human body does in these kinds of moments.
@hasturthekinginyellow5003 Жыл бұрын
@@Omicron716 i liked more the idea that Buster is not a misanthrope in the sense that he truly doesn't actively do anything to start fights, but he is a really good duelist and likes to show off, so he enjoys the killing but he doesn't go out of his way to search it. Which is why he doesn't outright kill Joe's brother; he shoots off his trigger finger and then the other 4 just to be sure, but when the brother tries to shoot at him with his other hand, well, Buster has no other choice but to kill him And the fact that he doesn't grabs a drink for himself after killing all the people in the cantina is because he is no petty thief, he is Buster Scruggs; the San Saba Songbird, he is way above stealing some Whiskey, or entering an establishment with concealed guns if said establishment has a rule against it

No matter how good you are, you are still at the mercy of the world and the evils it holds. At least, that’s how I take it.

There's a lot of risk in revisiting this brilliant and one in a million theme, and making a full movie out of it. I think we can all agree this short film will continue to grow in popularity. Maybe it's best to let it be.

Trying now would make it suck. But originally? If they set out to make a movie about him right from the beginning it’d be done right. I don't think this character would work for an entire movie. He's way too badass and lucky (except for the final part of this short, of course) which is something that tends to get boring very quickly due to how predictable his interactions end being, almost like a one trick pony or like hearing the same joke over and over. It just doesn't work. This short is just perfect as it is and IMO, that's what makes the character to shine even more.
@oldschoolsinger6 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm....."way too badass". Yeah I guess you're probably right, Oveja. Being way too badass never worked for Clint Eastwood in all of the Dirty Harry movies, Charles Bronson in all the Death Wish movies, Bruce Willis in all the Die Hard movies, and countless hundreds of other movies with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Steven Seagal, Chuck Norris, or Jean-Claude Van Damme. Yeah, being badass just doesn't work in full-length movies.
@oldschoolsinger6 жыл бұрын
Luke, you are THE MAN!!!! HAHAHA That's EXACTLY what they need to do.
@ovejanegra73556 жыл бұрын
@@oldschoolsinger What a way to miss the point about what I said. All the guys you named for sure are good examples of badass characters, but none of them is remotely as exaggerated as Buster Scruggs. That's the problem with him when you think about an entire movie based on a character that as the other person pointed out, is too cartoonish. In every damn interaction not only he succeeded (save the last one), but he did in such ridiculous spectacular ways that ask to indulge yourself in the most childish suspension of disbelief. That's why it worked here in the short, cause it was only a couple of that interactions and it had after that, all the other stories that are infinitely more grounded in reality, which balanced the off the charts badassery & goofiness of Buster Scruggs. More of that would only work in a movie targeted at teenagers, which is something the Coen brothers aren't known for. Regards.

Who else thought this movies chapters were all going to connect and be like a pulp fiction movie?
@ruly81533 жыл бұрын
I did I was so ducking confused but by the end of the first one I finally got it
@vibovitold3 жыл бұрын
I didn't. The tone of each chapter was totally different. This was sort of the point. I can't imagine how they might possibly connect, without getting completely ridiculous at least. How would you suggest it could work? What would be the connection?
@AussieRandomVideos3 жыл бұрын
@@vibovitold What I mean is, for some reason I thought the next episode might have a character from the first chapter do a "cameo" in the next chapter. I didn't know anything about this movie, it just popped up on Netflix.

@@vibovitold Something as simple as letting James Franco be the one who kills Buster, then goes on to rob the bank in the next story. Like have a character from one story be in the next so it kinda carries over.

OMG. ...... didn't expect that with the table..... had me rollin..... and I also seen the other SHORT clip (called CANTINA SCENE) where he walked through the door and set up the place and said at the end Reckon I DO ..... made me look for the full movie !!!

I for one admire Buster's cheery disposition. Even told the nice gentleman to deposit his weapon at the front. lol

It was a bodily reaction, when the first bullet hit his brain his reflexes mimicked his last muscle memory of COCKING BACK THE HAMMER. Hence repeatability of every table kick......... c’mon mannnnn.
