Just when I thought I knew all the locos there I see that weird looking thing at 3:02, the red one at 3:37 and the one behind the Hymek at 5:08. Never seen any of those before!

@@mickd6942 You should be! At one time it was accepted that smoking or drinking while pregnant or drink driving was fine. But people's attitudes changed when they were better educated. Soon those members of society were ostracised. Same is happening with those who don't care about clag and greenhouse gas pollution.

I never saw black smoke from a Hymek when they were in service. Something is horribly wrong.
@nablicman8 жыл бұрын
No its perfectly normal the black smoke will clear once the loco gets going.
@chriswilliams22778 жыл бұрын
I knew these locos when they first came out in the early 60's. Blue smoke, yes, but not black. . They were good locos and I had several fast runs behind them. Paddington to Reading.
@phils46347 жыл бұрын
They were designed for shorter distance operation only (having just the one engine - in comparison with the Westerns that had two. Used to see them a lot when I was a child in Plymouth (Houndiscombe Terrace, Mutley Plain, so very near Plymouth Station). They used to pull the local service down to Tavistock, or up to Newton Abbott.

Don't know why bad running engines always lure black-smoke-enthusiasts into daylight. You guys don't know what you're talking about. It's not the eco-thing you laugh at. Poor maintenance and a just barely sense for the requirements of vintage high-class diesels, as to be seen at ALL british Maybach powered locos today, in the first place harm and finally damage the rare MD 655s and MD 870s. That's what you might think about when you next time clap hands for a sputtering Hymek and their thick black clouds...
@conkeroonee6 жыл бұрын
Dokker62 Not damaged MD 655s and MD 870s but repaired and restored at great expense and effort. Otherwise we would not see and enjoy them...
