Siemens is well reputed brand but more than the brand for business, We need to see ROI & reliability. In my understanding such Electric & Electronic Devices life can be between 3 to 5Yrs. 10Yrs is beyound my imagination. So for safer business model it is ideal to consider life of 3Yrs. Transformer cost was nil in above case else for 30kW Charger it can be around ₹1.5L to ₹2L. Another point is battery capacity of EV vehicles and its range. Opportunity charging(Road Side charging) will come down once Vehicle driving range improves where as destination charging(home/office) will increase. All Auto OEM's are focusing in batter density to improve the range. Short range Electic vehicles may not be used for long distance travel. This is similar the way people consider 2W / 3W for short distance travel. I worked in this space for few MNC's and domestic brand in designing the EV chargers.Hence commented here.

Hi Satheesh, Few excellent points you've mentioned here. Couple things I'd like to clarify: These chargers from design stage itself are designed to have a 10 year+ life span. Especially with siemens, the vendor components are also given this critera. Siemens also offer AMC to back this claim. In case of cars, sure higher range cars will act as flagship ones. But won't public opt for affordable EVs and use them for long travel also? Case point: Tiago EV still is the best selling car despite having very good vfm high end cars.

Sales Manager may promise. Anyways, I am also looking forward for mass adoption of EV over ICE. It will strengthen our country economically. We can save a lot in forex. We are one of the few Power Surplus country in the world.

Their cars are very reliable, but does toyota give a writing their engines last a million kilometers? As for EV charger, the main component is the rectifier panel. In Siemens case it's tonhe. Hi Manu, No doubt higher power cars will come in the future. But we're expecting wider adoption of lower power cars like tiago. An example: despite MG windsor, tata retained no. 1 position due to sale of tiago EV. Also, there were limitations on power availability and parking. So after working out the commercials, we decided to go with 30kW SIEMENS.

Not just that. Many lower brands use cables of lower grade. These cables require more diameter for same current capacity. International brands like SIEMENS and ABB have lighter cables.

​@@123shibin I had replied back since you commented relating to charging station in china on a video intended for Kerala audience. As for break even, it depends entirely in business model and direct/indirect models. Assuming a net profit of 8.5rs/unit, that would mean around 95k units. ie, around 2.25k units per month when considering a period of 3.5 years. If there's any indirect revenue sources such as cafe or restaurants, break even gets nearer.

ROI depends on how many vehicles charge there and also the tarrif rate. If the charger is reliable and easily accessible more people will use it resulting in more revenue. The tarrif is also important. ChargeMOD's tarriff was like 12-15 Rs. Now, they have increased it to 18-24 Rs in most places. So, comparatively less people will be interested in charging at that cost.
