Too many people are chasing outcomes instead of journeys. That’s the difference. Nobody knew you could get rich from this back in the day, everyone who did only got there because they loved doing it. Streaming and content is saturated with people doing it for money just because they don’t like their 9-5. You’re never going to get anywhere if you’re only thinking of outcomes

It's not really as simple as that though. I think learning to love things that traditionally seem unlovable gives you power over those things. It allows for the mundane to feel more like an opportunity than a chore. You start to see the real beauty in the small variations of your day that are otherwise unremarkable. Ultimately, once you get a handle on the fact that you and only you have absolute control over your own perspective, you come to terms with the reality that no outside factor gets to dictate your happiness in this life. Its you. You’re the determining factor. And frankly, I think when I was a younger man that much power scared me and so I let others hold it until I was ready to wield it.

When I first got out of college, I experienced this huge shock working a 9-5. I went from living on a college campus being surrounded by students and friends and working part time into a full time post graduate job and I absolutely hated it. I was depressed in the beginning because it was such a grind, and I missed my old student life. It felt good to finally put money in my pocket, but it was so different then school. Over time I hopped around a few jobs and found something I didn't hate and embraced the grind. Now it's not so bad and I set goals for myself and always plan things to do in the future such as traveling or concerts or sporting events.

Reality hits after college for a lot of people especially after looking for jobs. We just turned down a new grad girl with a bachelor’s for a 18 dollar an hour receptionist position. 100% agree with nade here. I would definitely say it’s more difficult in your first few jobs outta college or whatever that may be for you. I used to think the 9-5 life was horrible but after establishing myself in my career I make a great living, work fully remote, and have plenty of time for hobbies outside of work like golfing or other activities. Most people underestimate how far you can get in life with having a good career especially if you get married and have two good incomes, be smart with your money and just give it time

something adam lz and tj hunt talked about on adams podcast is that instead of focusing too hard on the planning, sometimes you just gotta do it. obviously plan step one or two but if you havent started doing anything and your still trying to plan step ten then you gotta just do it, dont quit your job in hopes of blowing up, start doing something out of love, do it cause you have fun, if you enjoy playing a game on your free time then maybe record it once and upload it, maybe start a stream one day, it may take time but if you really enjoy doing it then it wont matter. like nade said dont do it for the money, just do it for the passion and if you stick with it enough who knows maybe something will come of it and if not then it also doesnt matter cause it was just a hobby and your life isnt gonna end if your content creation didnt take off. a content creator with soul and personality is better than the shell of a sell out just looking to make more money.

funny enough, i went the opposite route. i was a full time (smaller) content creator for 4-5 years and this year i went back to a 9-5. i enjoyed those years and realized my blessings, but I have a little boy and a partner I have to look out for now. full time content creation is also a full time business that you have to sustain by yourself, you get no benefits that a 9-5 gives you. although i have and amazing community that supported me so well, I had to look at the bigger picture and the longer run. "can I manage time with my family, while streaming, uploading, paying for all our coverages, bills?" "will i have a solid social life?" the simple answer was no. so i stepped away for now until i can find extra time to still do what i love.

Everyone’s different. Some people thrive in a 9-5 and others just hate it and want more freedom. Like for me personally I don’t do much, I don’t go away from home all too often, so a 9-5 for me is a release, it gets me out, gets me socialising and gives me purpose and routine. Whereas if I was working from home or for myself, I’d never ever be out of the house and that’s when anxiety and depression would kick in. So if you’re very outgoing you could definitely survive outside of a 9-5, if you’re like me who spends most of their time at home, I feel you need a 9-5 to really get out there and live. That’s just my opinion.

Hit the gym (poor and middle class people can do that). Watch netflix on a big tv (everyone can do that). Play video games (everyone can do that). Read books? play guitar or some instrument? hang with friends, family, pets? Like these are all really cheap hobbies that people of all levels enjoy. People focus way too much on "how much they make" vs HOW MUCH THEY SPEND! Live like a minimalist, get a semi decent paying job and stay out of trouble and bad debt and you'll be amazed how far you get.

Work a 9-5 to pay bills. From 5-10 work towards your dream. If you don’t know what you want to do, make mistakes, and you’ll figure it out. One thing leads to another. Oh yeah, invest in stocks for the long term, learn how to swing trade and day trade, it’s possible if you want it bad enough. Watching your accounts grow gives you something to work towards! Cheers.

I’ve said it before i’ll say it again, i could never hate Nade. He was the right one to make famous back in the day and that’s why it happened, yes it was luck but also Nade has been a great example for a long time.

His best advice here is to find shit to do outside of your work. I am that mid 20s guy out of college and in the routine of my 9-5 and I'm still getting used to it, but knowing that I have my outings, events, passions, goals, and personal metrics I want to hit throughout the week is what it's all about. At this time, a job/career for me is a platform and some capital fuel to get me where I want/need to go. The situation isn't permanent, but it's just what I gotta do. ...and there's always AI in the next decade or so that'll make work obsolete? That's a dream.
@BiHxGaMeRsАй бұрын
Definetley the proper answer, if you try to treat streaming/content creation as a second job it’s only going to make you stressed when you see your views aren’t popping off as you thought. If you treat it as a hobby, then you might get lucky with a vid or two here and there and subscriber counts continue to grow. Just take speed for example, he basically created a new persona for himself once he saw how much he could Pop off with it. Before that the guy was dropping 2k and fortnite vids with little to no views, then went on to do other stuff that eventually made him explode into the scene, but it was all a hobby to him before it became something he made a living out of, that’s what you have to treat this as. A hobby, not a second job

I will say, if you truly want to work for yourself - it is possible. I built my business and now I work maybe 10-20 hours a week, I love my daily routines. I hated the idea of ever being told what to do by a boss. If that’s you, and you’re willing to eat a little glass to get the business going the first few years - it can be done.

9-5, Try 40 30 20 10 saving rule or something similiar. Work on moving up within the company or move around depend what position you are in. Also, get into a trade school or a program, that will open new doors and higher wage.
@ZwoufyАй бұрын
I think a lot of people don’t realise even being a business owner or running your own business you are working a minimum 9-5 anyway if not more hours. A 9-5 is a very basic concept of a job, a job can be a passion or a side hustle to allow you to pursue other hobbies and ideas with less risk. Dont stress about trying to escape the 9-5. Utilise it!

Fkin luck is the most important thing to success even if it's just a little bit.
@BoRi7o12 ай бұрын
its the hard work that puts you in those scenarios. for example: if you always wanted to be a youtuber on optic and one random day optic announces that they are signing a new creator and they are viewing youtube channels for the next 2 days. Imagine if you were on ur grind but for the past 2 recent months you got lazy and didnt upload a thing and you get picked over someone whose been grinding 24/7 still uploading everyday. Sure its luck that got the other guy picked over you; but he did the hard work to put himself in that position to get lucky
@victorinprogressАй бұрын
many people got lucky but didn't have the work ethic & foundation to keep up the success. The right luck at the wrong time can suck

No matter what you do, you'll be working 8 hours a day, maybe more. Even if you're an artist or a streamer or whatever you do to make a living. Try to get along with the people you work with, crack jokes, eat lunch together. Make the best of your job and enjoy your hobbies outside of work. There aren't a lot of people who make their hobbies their jobs. It's a gift and curse in many ways. You have to find happiness in the situation that you're in, not in the one you dream about.
@iWaZaaHDАй бұрын
that's the wrong mindset. passive income. passive income. repeat. the aim in life is to be financially free, so that you don't have worry about working 8 hours a day (at least) for the rest of your life. save, and prioritise now before it's too late. I'm a manager by day job and my alter ego - a music producer. Although I'm (currently) a ghost producer as I've no tag as such, I've had DMs with Roy Woods, Dutchavelli, and a few other artists. That is MY dream - to be able to pursue music full time, not working my 9-5 for the rest of my life. There's nothing wrong with dreaming, and dreams don't have to be just dreams if you really want to pursue something and find it has upmost fulfilling value within.

Workers need to band together to demand better working conditions. Society is built and maintained by labor and people shouldn’t be burned out to the point of quitting, because then society will cease to function.

I think people work certain 9 to 5 jobs that arent meant to be long term career 9 to 5 jobs. Youll be happier when you find the job that you have a long term vision with. Then theres the other end of the spectrum. I worked in sawmills making great money for 15 years, but i was working night shift 230 pm to 5 am. The money was there but i was working myself to death. I recently changed jobs and took a substantial pay cut. Im back on dayshift and love it. You just gotta find what makes you happy and balances your life. It can take many years, though.

Be ahead of the curve, dont chase the curve. As a 36 year old the advice i have to give you is, dont try to do the right thing. Do what you like and get good at it. I started working just to pay the bills in a sector that i hate. I never got out of it and i hate it every day. Better to do something that youre good at and like, the money and opportunities will come on its own because youll manifest it when youre enjoying it. Everyone is saying oh scump and seth are so lucky. No, back then they took a huge risk by doing what they liked and it payed off.

Leverage the 9-5, use it as a tool to achieve other things you're more interested in. Those interests might start making you enough money to quit your 9-5, who knows. It's on you, the person reading this.

ok here is my advice. Work as many hours as you physically can to SAVE MONEY. get yourself financially secure. Get a place to live. Go from there. But there is NO SUBSTITUTE for those hours you HAVE to put in. You must work more than 40 hours per week unless you have college. You MUST go fucking balls to the wall hard. Be hard on yourself to save money. Be tough. Once you save that money and get a place man, things will start lookin up. But if you are trying to " escape" the 9 to 5 grind i want to be real with you, you wont. You will be forced into working a fucking job no matter what. You cannot feel sorry for yourself. You must dig deep and persevere. It will not be easy.
