It would be very very hard to start from scratch at 22. Most pros got established in their teens when they had all the free time in the world to hone their skills, and thats only half the battle, then you have to get a bit lucky to get noticed by top players. When you enter your 20s, real life kicks in, so I would say no unless you're on SSI.

Let's get real , there is one single common shared thing qhen it comes to most pros in all games , supportive parents , if you don't start early then you're usually screwed. I tried to go to tournaments in Halo 3 when I was 13 , I was really really good . Thought I'd try , I begged my dad to go to tournaments , and he told me I wasn't good enough and I should give up . He took away my console and forced me to play baseball. If you have shitty parents from the get go, you're screwed , it's a cruel world but it's the way it is.

I hear that. It's a weird time for gaming right now, moreso a couple years ago, because before Twitch and battle royale games gaming was a very niche thing. I think the takeaway from this is pretty spot on from Nade. Most competitive players you see were already well established in the scene in their 20s. During the golden years of CSGO I wanted to go pro really bad so I would play for about 10 hours a day but the majority of that was aim training with bots or scrims on ESEA. Sure, I got to A+ on ESEA but it only made me realize that no matter how good you are, there's someone that's 10x better than you. I would queue with friends who were G and one who was S, I could barely get a kill in any match we played, I would just get dunked on repeatedly until I just either went to MM or scrimmed my rank. Unless you can devote a stupid amount of time to it, have the right mindset as well as strategy with clear goals to visualize progression, it's so fucking hard. Semi-pro, possibly, pro, .01% chance. Pick a realistic life path and just follow it. I understand hopes and dreams, but too many people want to go pro in video games or be popular on KZbin for the money which will never put you in the right mindset to succeed.

Perhaps a really hot take here; but a LOT of kids have played games since they were 10. Over the past 10+ years, the gaming industry, streaming industry and esports scene has had a massive impact on pop culture. 4 years ago when the pandemic started, kids coming out of high school were locked in their homes watching twitch and stuff. That kid would have been 18 at the time. Gaming has become such a huge space during that downtime that it's hard to stand out compared to 2012 when there was UMG and game battles. Esports was just taking really taking off. Twitch and Tourneys might have been a big influence on these kids who had nothing else to do, but it's not a reliable career path to dedicate your time to. It's just naive and if you're 22~, just go to school. 6-7 years before you're 30 and considered 'old' in the gaming scene then are forced to retire or your game just dies is really not worth that commitment.

There are pros or people who have the potential to go pro at 30+ in a fuckton of esports, I don't think age is as huge as people make it out to be. It gets harder when you aren't establishing yourself in high school or college when you hypothetically have more free time, but it isn't impossible if your life is fortunate enough to be structured in such a way that you can begin the steps of prioritizing growth and networking. The toughest part about esports really is the networking thing. I'm sure there are dozens of goated players that didn't have the ability to do so because they just weren't in the right place at the right time.
@Zagreus_0718 күн бұрын
Networking is a small part of it.. Local tournaments are held all the time all over the world for all sorts of games.. Number one is actually turning up and proving yourself.. He meant in your 20’s you need to lay the foundation for what your life is going to be like. This dude is 22 with litterally 0 connections and is unknown in the scene.. in other words, should be focusing on something else in his 20’s rather than playing video games all day because he will waste his most precious years otherwise chasing a dream that will not ever become reality. In your 20’s you need to focus on what’s realistic and not be chasing dreams. Unless that dream can be chased as a side gig ofc. which is not possible with trying to go pro. The time commitment makes it impossible to have anything else going on

I average above a 2.0kd solid as a rock. Black ops 6 beta is testing me but I’m still rocking. I truely believe unless you have some cognitive decline due to health or something that affects your hands it really is all up to the individual since we’re all so different as people.
