His worldview is only really extreme when he gets caught up in ideals of hope and all that. Otherwise it's just elitism, which isn't uncommon in human history.

And even though he has an elitist worldview, he still overall places himself at the bottom of it rather than on top. And thinks there's no shame in that. Isn't he so weird and almost contradictory for that? Especially if you consider his parallel ideals on hope and how the powerless can bring forth hope (this sort of change in opinion is shown mainly in UDG, though). And if you consider his hidden dream of classism based on talents not existing at all (the OVA). There really is a lot to dig up about him, isn't there!
