This is the decade that brought us shows like: - Kid Nation, a show where children were brought to a ghost town and had to build a new society - The Swan, where contestants participated in a beauty pageant- after receiving tons of plastic surgery. Yes, the participants were required to get plastic surgery in order to compete in the pageant. - Superstar USA, an American Idol type show that set out to find the worst singer in America. Participants were told not to sing in front of each other and they didn’t sing in front of a studio audience until the final round. The people in the audience were told that the contestants were part of the Make A Wish program so they wouldn’t boo the terrible singers.
