I'm more mechanic then nail professional, just enjoy watching nail tutorials at 1 am and wanted to say how awesome it is that you touched on the mechanics! You and camera man are correct! Torque is whats stopping the drill, its the measurement of force on the axel. Rpm is the speed and stands for revolutions per minute. So 30,000 RPM is just how many times it would completes a full spin in a minute at its highest setting. Torque and speed will give you a measurement for power and when you put them on a graph the relationship is curved much like the shape of a properly filed nail!

A little electrical lesson. The motor is totally in the hand unit in these models. The base unit has a transformer that steps up or down the current to the hand unit, for speed, or reverses polarity, which makes the motor in the hand unit reverse direction. In the units I see at the salon, the motor is in the desk unit and the cord to the hand unit is actually a rotating cable (like the speedometer in your car). So the motor can be much bigger with more torque as you suggested, without weighing down your hand unit. From a female with electrical background from the US Air Force. :-)

I purchased the "Makartt Jd700" back in January 2018. I started doing my nails back in May of 2017, then my mum wanted me to start doing hers some months later. Every 3 weeks we have a nice visit @ my house do nails, have some tea & a chat. It's our little nail salon day. I'm not a pro, so I have no experience with a high-end drill. But I love this one. It helps speed up the removal process and do the cuticle work. I guess I have a light touch or extremely sensitive nail beds, because I've never been able to pressed down hard enough to slow the arbor band. I also don't go past the first 3 of notches for the sanding bands. I like the ceramic bits much more though for removing product. (I don't go higher than the 7th notch with those). From my own limited experience, I would recommend the Makartt Jd700.

Makarrt seems the most reliable based on lots of reviews and the handpiece looks slimmer, more comfortable than many found on other eFiles nail drills. It seems quite quiet too. I don’t like the colour but, functionality & comfort are more important. It’s a shame they don’t have storage holes and not all have a foot pedal.

I am spoiled with my efile. I spent $350 (on sale) for my file 5 yrs ago. It is still going strong. It is amazing. It is a Medicool Pro Power 35k...just fyi. It has good torque, great speed variation, foot pedal, and very very low vibration. All efiles will have a slight vibration, but it should be so minute you hardly notice it. Investing in good, long lasting equipment pays off in the end.

@@lynnmiller8692 if you are a licensed nail tech or are going to be, I would say yes. If you are a DIY, I would recommend the Airsee NS2036 cordless on Amazon (about $80). It is a really good efile, but not sure on the longevity lifespan of it. I have been using it at home for 3 months. I love the fact it is powerful and very little vibration.

I am a jeweler. I started using a cheaper nail efile because i have much more control than with my Foredom or dremel tool i once used. The one i use is quiet good. Its a BTArtbox. I think i paided $30 usd for it on Amazon. I bought it to make jewelery. Than i started doing my nails with it. I wear a lot of gel nails. One thing lead to another and i actually went school to get my licsence. I will never work as a Nail tech but it helps when doing mine or friends nails. I did 600 hours here in Texas. I love your channel. I learn alot of tips from you. More so than i did in school. I got the idea of the nail efile from school actually. It really is good for several applications. I use it in RC models too.

And if so, stepping down on the pedal, does this start/stop rotation only?or does applying pressure to the pedal dictate speed variations as well? Just bought the 1st one from Makartt today. I have the Belle drill and that's why I was looking for a different one. It's pretty but is way too fast when I'm trying to smooth the top of the nail. Works great for shaping and debulking acrylic though.

Carlita Bonita I see a ton of high end nail salons using Mani Pro Passport cordless. Now it's kinda pricey, but it's so worth it. There is another one that is a cheaper version of the Mani Pro Passport. It's by Makartt JD855. It's $53.28 on eBay. I use this one when I'm doing a repair on my own acrylic nails or practicing on my mannequin hand. It's pretty good for the price.

*Definitely light weight. I have used this on a client and with my own acrylics. I have been using this for 2 months now and it’s still working! It comes with a basic set of diamond bits, a nail brush, a buffer, and 100/180 grit sanding band replacements. I haven’t had any trouble with it. I’m pleased that I’m able to adjust speed and I get the option of using a foot pedal that came with it. I’d say this is a perfect drill if your just starting or just wanting to do some home DIY nails.*

I just bought the new makartt one off amazon and it’s amazing. I’m quit sure that there are better brands out there but I only do my nails and occasionally my SIL’s so a $400+ dust system isn’t really all that practical. I’ve tried several of the cheaper ones...even had hubby make me a under desk mounted one by removing the motor and mounting it under my desk after cutting a hole. Great concept just crappy motors. I bought several different fan motors in an effort to make that work better and no dice. The makartt one works amazing. Search makartt dust collector on KZbin.....endless videos about it on there. Good luck!!!!

I own the Belle. I am licensed but not working on clients at the moment. For me, this works. I will invest in a better one at a later time. I only use it on the low speed unless I’m removing acrylic. I know what works for me. I don’t use the bits that came with it. I bought carbide bits which work excellent. I know when I start doing clients again, I need to upgrade.

I know a 100/180 grit is used to take off product but what grit do you use after you're done with that? The very last time a nailtech touched my hands was over 10 years ago. Up until that point I had a fill every 3 weeks and you wouldn't have caught me dead without nails. The nailtech drilled through my natural nail, down into the nail bed. I literally screamed. It was horrific and scary to say the least. He then proceeded to throw glue to try to seal the exposed flesh, and it burned like crazy! I got such a horrible infection and my nail still has a huge dip in it. From the side you can see where he took part of my nail bed off.

OK so I've had that Bella one for 2 years now and I'm just a homebody who gets anxiety going to the salon and see I THOUGHT OMG this thing is dangerous and I've NEVER used it on my natural nails AND I've never got off the low setting with it because it scares me so it did me a lot of good seeing what you said about it...I was GLUED to the screen watching you with it. Wow! Watching this has made me realize how I’ve been going to horrible nail techs! I used to want to cry going to this Asian Guy! He did fabulous work, but I would cringe when he brought out the drill! My nail would burn and my skin around my nails and my cuticles would be bleeding and scabbed by the end of my session. He told me that it was normal, but I now know it’s not! Thank you so much for teaching us about drills! ❤️

Define inexpensive. Everyone's budget is different. Plus, some times the cheaper ones can be dangerous because the chemicals can cause chemical burns and possible deterioration of your nails. The expensive ones are priced for a reason for the sake of the brand and quality.

Thanks for doing this video, because of it I have purchased and received my JD700 e-drill and it was the best decision I have ever made regarding a good quality product, concerning manicure & pedicure. I am new to all of this, I'm still very much at the learning stage, and I'm finding it all rather interesting, thanks once again. hi suzie & cameraman! ive been subscribed for several months now and refer anyone who asks me about my nails (have been doing them over a year with gel at home!) to your channel! i also wanted to let you know you got me to change up my nail routine pretty drastically. i've added an apex for more structure, against my earlier reservations, and i'm actually in love with how strong they feel, now that i've worn my nails long for so long! idk, i've just picked up so many little tips from y'all, and even changed my mind about two things i absolutely despised before- apexes and acrylic! while i'm still wary about acrylic because of the lack of bend that you get with gel, I'm REALLY excited to work with polygel instead!! thank you so much for showing us all these things, you really are the sweet teachermom of the YT nail community

MelodySusie makes great starter gel polishes. They apply nicely and the colors are nice. I have some of their sets from Amazon they're great for just doing my own basic gel nails.

I used the Cadrim one for first try. Lol my hand was stiff after use it. Never use it anymore. Too much vibration. Wish you did this review 2 years ago so I did not need keep trying buy nail drill to find good one to use. Wasted my money. 😂 Btw Thank you Suzie for do this video. 😘

I purchased an e-file from Amazon recently for $29.98+tax (free Amazon Prime shipping) & i love it! Its design is most like the last drill you tested but my version is by a different company/seller. It's compact, quiet, variable speed, has 2 drill holders AND has the drill bit storage/holders built into the machine. I think I got a good deal for an amazing @ home drill. It was also an Amazon top seller/ top rated/suggested product/"Customer top rated" drill. In very Haku with my purchase!
