How to install Lokklatch Deluxe on double gates

How to install a Lokklatch Deluxe by D & D Technologies.
Today, I’ll be installing the lokklatch deluxe on a set of steel framed double gates cladded with cypress pine pickets.
The Lokklatch Deluxe is a great gate latch for picket fences, paling fencing, Merbau fences, vinyl and steel fence.
Tools you’ll need.

Impact drive
4mm drill bit

Your demonstration on how to do it is a lot better than others just one question now when you lock it from either the back or the front does both sides lock ?

It's not really the "primary gate" that dictates where the striker goes, it's the swing of the gate that's also important. If your "primary gate" swings out instead of in, then the striker needs to be on the stationary side.

i’d probably just install it on the opposite side in that case. Last thing I want is the striker bar exposed past the gate only two get snagged on every time you walk through the gate. 😂

Thanks for your very helpful videos. Quick question…I’m halfway through building double gates like this and will definitely use the latch. Do you build these gates while they’re upright on the hinges or flat then hang them. I’ve done one (1500 wide x 1800 high) Merbau on steel, but it’s very heavy to manoeuvre into place. But I thought building flat would be a lot easier. Any tips appreciated

I hang the frames first. Then take gates off to clad materials. Then lift back onto hinges. 👍

Not related to the latch, but how wide are your fence pickets on this gate? I'm looking to build a fence with what appears to be a similar picket width (approximately 70 mm wide). I noticed you only have 1 fastener in the middle of each picket. Do you ever have issues with cupping of the edges with only 1 fastener? I am debating whether I need 1 or 2 fasteners on the pickets at each rail. The pickets I am using are 20mm thick. Thanks!

I can’t remember the spacing exactly. Looks to be about 15 mm. For a 70 mm Cyprus picket. One fastener is enough. You will not get any cupping. If you are using a 90 mm picket. Two screws would be the way to go.

I don’t think so, but you could weld on a bit of square tubing and install it.
