I always remember how my mom taught me to paint my nails when I was maybe 10... she said 'always leave a little space between your nail and your cuticles on the side, that makes your nails look longer and classier'. and I always paint them that way :D

I've heard of other ladies trying vaseline, cuticle oil, elmers glue, chapstick or any kind of oily substance around the skin to prevent the polish from sticking. I don't do it myself since I'm trying to get better at applying polish neatly :) But it's a good idea to try out. I don't seal the edge of the nails myself (I guess I'm too lazy) but others say that it helps with staying power. Just lightly brush against the nail edge with a just-barely-loaded brush.

For everyday life I'd rather just paint all my nails one color or at the most, add an accent nail. Nail art is a hobby and sometimes there's not enough time to do anything else! :) Trying to stretch my creative muscles and make some fun tutorials to watch but truthfully it's difficult coming up with new videos every week. Thanks :)

I love OPI Nail Envy :) I have the Sensitive/Peeling type but I've heard many good things about the original. They really harden the nails and they prevent them from bending/breaking.

Hi Janelle!! I tried this last night on my manicure and it helped greatly!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Specially that I tried a dark red, which I love but it can be messy!! I def need more practice but your guidance and tips were very helpful!! Can you tell us what kind of brush you use to clean around the nails?
@elleandish11 жыл бұрын
For short nail beds the only difference would be potential cleanup if the polish gets onto the skin at the end of the finger. Other than that, painting nails of any length, long or short should follow the same procedure: Start close to the cuticles and drag down to the edge of the nail (wherever the end of your nail lies) :) Hope that helps!

My #1 tip: use a nail strengthener! I use OPI Nail Envy.. nail strengtheners will help harden your nails and as a result they're less prone to breaking. If they don't break, they have more time to grow longer :) As far as growing faster, I honestly do not know :)

I mostly paint my nails dark colors like black, navy, dark red, violet and so on. The darker polishes are runnier and if you clean up sometimes it can stain your cuticles which usually washes off. But these are great tips since I struggle sometimes with dark polishes. Tysm :)
