Love my Nakamichi NAM3510-M7 Lockdown Security installed in my 2005 Toyota Corolla. They also did a great job installing a 2-channel Thinkware U1000 dash cam in the same vehicle and two 2-channel Thinkware U1000 dash cams in my new SUV for a total of 4 camera coverage (front, both sides and rear). HI Kei, Sorry I just checked my receipt. I should have thought of that first. Yes the installer used a Metra 95-8204 Toyota Corolla 2003-2008 Double Din Dash kit and Metra 70-1761 Toyota/Subaru Wire Harness.

I also had a usb cigarette lighter adapter installed to replace the cigarette lighter that came with the vehicle. It can only charge devices. It does not activate the wired Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on the Nakamichi Head Unit. The USB port at the lower left of the Nakamichi head unit screen is the port to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Looks like a pretty neat little unit. I'm a bit concerned that no firmware updates have been published yet, but it looks responsive enough with the current build. Any idea if it supports any bluetooth codecs past SBC? I'd be using the USB audio feature of Android Auto anyways, but it would be nice to see some apt-X or similar for better bluetooth quality and latency.

Hello. Thanks so much for your video! I would like to use Apple CarPlay wirelessly, would it be possible to buy a CarPlay adapter and plug it into the back usb, so I don’t have to always have my phone plugged in to use CarPlay? Also would this unit work on a 2012 Toyota Prius?

No adapters are available for the 2012 Prius, to add CarPlay to the OEM radio. You would need to replace the Toyota radio with an aftermarket radio with CarPlay, like the one in this video or others we sell. Thank you for my response. I wanted to use CarPlay wirelessly and understand that this unit does not connect to CarPlay wirelessly. Is that correct? I was wondering if I could plug in a CarPlay adapter to the rear usb of this aftermarket radio, in order to connect to CarPlay without having to plug my phone in everytime I want to use CarPlay. A family member bought one of these ... I am putting it in for her. is the video bypass just ground like most android or is it like a pioneer and is the reverse signal a positive? I have not actually seen the unit I am tackling this saturday, Just doing my research and cannot find the actual detailed diagrams online. thank you

Hey great video. I installed one in my truck about a year ago and love it. Question l have is why doesn't the usb on the back work with my iPhone. The usb has power but my phone wont work, only the front usb works. I wanted to plug in my apple wireless CarPlay adapter but it doesn't work. Not sure why...Thanks

That's a good question, one which I believe is due to the design of the radio, where only the front USB works with CarPlay and Android Auto. They did this I believe, to be easier for USB cable plug in (unfortunately not as cosmetically nice though). Looks like you have to plug the wireless adapter into the front port (although I am not 100% the adapter will work with this radio).

i had a nakamichi installed in my 2007 nissan frontier, when i program the SWC, it works a little while then some of the control doesn’t work. i have to reprogram everytime and always losing some of the controls, sometimes i can only used the volume control on a different control button on my steering wheel. dis i miss something in programming? thanks

Thanks for the great feedback on the video, the steering wheel interface is built into this radio (provded your vehicle does not have a digital CAN-BUS based steering wheel control system.

This unit has a power antenna wire, but to be honest I am not 100% if they have it shutoff power to the antenna when no on rado, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a separate power antenna wire

Possibly yes, as the SWC on the 2016 CRV may be CAN-BUS based which is not compatible with the built in SWC of the Nakamichi

You need a wire harness adapter or an interface, depending on the year and trim of the Explorer you are working with. The wiring from an Explorer will NOT directly plug into any aftermarket radio.

@@LockdownSecurity yeah he had an aftermarket harness that plugs in to the original harness. I had my other buddy come by and show me cause my deck didn’t have the plug at the end. Just the one that went into the deck. Didn’t wanna cut the other end off and mess it up. So for anyone reading this you need to cut the big end off of it doesn’t fit anywhere, just connect color to color for wire. And ur sub has to be connected to the one RCA that says sub or it won’t work, connect the red to it and cover black with electrical tape

Does DSP have LPF/HPF? I like this function on my actuall JVC HeadUnit. I like to change it to get Apple CarPlay, but I will miss HPF..

Yes the is a low pass filter (LPF) and a high pass filter (HPF)

Get a liquid screen protector with $100 screen replacement. So that way if ur screen breaks, they send you $100 and you can put it towards fixing screen or getting new deck

We have seen this issue, looks to be either a defective product (solution being get a new one to swap out with) OR we have also seen some with the ACC and Constant wire pinout being incorrect, requiring a swap with each other.

No the AUX input is on the back of this radio, there is a USB input on the front of the radio though

This one has car play, you need to connect it to the back of the receiver, so the best way is to get a flush mount adapter and cut your hole and mount, or replace with the cigarette lighter . Take the lighter spot out so it’s just a hole with no metal inside, run ur usb on the back of it to the deck, fit and mount in hole, connect your phone plug to it and your phone

It will be marked BACK or reverse, I have to verify the colour but the radio has a wire colour chart on the chassis

@@LockdownSecurity thanks for that. I've installed this radio and mostly everything is good. One small issue is the head set itself keeps resetting and showing the initial setup page whenever I start the car again. Does your headset have the same issue?

@@nicksonsbikeski440 Yes I did. I have a Toyota 86 so it took me a while to figure out that I had to switch the constant with accessory. Just note that a few colours on the supplied harness differ and for some reason park is on the secondary unit (for Android auto functionality). Apart from that really enjoying the head unit

Steering wheel control. That’s all I know though.

Those are the steering wheel control integration wires, used when your vehicle has steering wheel controls and you wish to retain them (keep them working).
