Modern naked litre bikes are not everyone’s cup of tea, at least to look at, but a ride on any of them can o ly leave you admiring their ability and performance. After the Kawasaki Z900 and Triumph Speed Triple, it’s only right to try my favourite Japanese manufacturer’s offering, the Suzuki GSX-S 1000.

I think that the Suzuki GS Excess 1000 was named appropriately 😁😁. With the power of six Royal Enfield 350s, by my calculations, it should be good for 420MPH with thirteen passengers 🤣🤣😂😂. What a beast! 👍👍

So, a few years back, I was in the market for a naked motorcycle. I went on test rides for a bunch of different brands, including all the Japanese ones, BMW, and a few Italian models. And guess what? The Suzuki GSX-S 1000 totally blew me away! It's an incredible bike for the price, and I can ride it all day long thanks to its awesome fuel range and performance.

Morning taym 🙂, youles at Blackburn have a brand new pre reg 950 in white/red for a bargain price of £7999!! The 950 has 95bhp and can be restricted to 48bhp. Even though it's 55bhp less than the 1000,it will still do 130mph plus and will accelerate to 60 in less than 4 secs,so enough for most people, unless your a naughty boy 🤔😂

My Brother is 4 years older than me and one day he brought home a 650 Katana in the mid 80s. He loved it but always loved the new styling of the 1100 ... I would have got the new katana if it had the tank range gsx . Thanks TAYM 👍

Love Suzuki's TAYM but I think i'm stuck in a time warp I am sure it's a fabulously exciting ride good fun nd all but I can't get past those looks .The Katana didn't do it for me first time around so the present day one would be no different but that doesn't take away from the build quality and reliability of the brand for sure .TAYM I reckon I am have been left behind by more than technology area flares still a thing ?😉👌👍

Nice one TAYM. The bike is superb except for the "praying mantis" style no rear mudguard to ensure a wet backside and a skimpy front guard to ensure the engine and pipes get filthy.

I must be getting old! That clutch getting let out and the engine revs up, annoys me. Let's all just get on a bus! Forget riding and free will. I think I would rather have that money in my pocket then waste that on technology. God, I have become grumpy in my old age of 51!😂 I want the state to spend money on syncing traffic lights 🚥! So I don't get stopped every block!

I would have this over the Katana because of the Tank Capacity. I love the Looks of the Katana But a 12 Litre Tank that's as Small as Some 125 bikes! I liked Old English Spangles

Morning taym that is a very nice looking bike I think and a great dealers Orwell’s are I think if I had it I’d put bar end mirrors on it and that’s it as you say a proven engine absolute reliability well it is Suzuki and Japanese what can I say but my time has gone for that kind of style now great bike definitely ride safe mate

Looking at the front of the bike whilst you're riding it, the clocks look like an after thought, needs some sort of small fairing / cowl around them. Bars and yoke look nothing special I'll stick to my sports bikes

Afternoon TAYM I'm sure it's an awesome performance machine , but styling wise all these type of bikes look the same..like a badly stacked pile of roofing tiles or a giant door wedge, I prefer something with a few curves in it's shape,and as you say something I can "get a leg on" 😉😆,but each to their own eh! The Kawasaki takes me back to the 70's Z1. If I changed my T100 I'd consider one. The Suzuki is a modern road bike and though excellent, it isn't to my taste.

Great review again This would not be for me tho as I find it way to much 🐜 insect like 😂😂😂😂 but you’re comparable bike the Z still looks lake a bike from my generation as I owned a Z in the 70s One thing I find very interesting is the weight of its bike - it is lighter than my current interceptor at 47 HP and I thought I was downsizing for for a reason- now I have to rethink my options 🤔🤔🤔 confused now here in Florida 🦩🦩🦩🦩 Regards J

Yes, Royal Enfield seem to hide sandbags somewhere when they produce a bike🤔 odd isn’t it😂😂 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 only weighs 213 kg but a super meteor is 240kg 🤔 thanks John 😁

When I test rode the Z900 a few yrs ago, I hated the snatchy throttle and close ratio box necessitating constant cog swapping, seduced by the looks though. I love the suzuki induction growl from this. Having owned nearly 50 bikes over a lifetime. I love twins the best despite not sounding like this. A machine that’s not in tune with uk roads/limits etc. but … very attractive. Listening to the engine it’s just not being used. Ur a lucky so and so trying all these😂. I had a suzuki car and what a car it was. Love Japanese engineering but suzuki have a lesser reputation than Honda etc but I rather trust suzuki
