As a metal head, I surprisingly like this song. Could be best described as the anthem of the girl who got away that you are always thinking back about.

The only other song I know from Naked Eyes is "Promises, Promises" and it's one worth listening to. The funny thing was, as someone mentioned before, "Always Something There to Remind Me" was a Bacharach/David song. That same writing team had their own "Promises, Promises," so, naturally, people thought Naked Eyes were doing another cover of their work, but their version was a fully original song.

Bucharach has written some of the biggest hit songs of all time, it's time they did a proper 1960's stream. Or even better a stream of Burt Bucharach cover songs.

"(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" is a song written in the 1960s by songwriting team Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Originally recorded as a demo by Dionne Warwick in 1963, "(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me" "This unabashed house cover of Dusty Springfield's 'Always Something There To Remind Me' is already on its way into the dancefloor history books. Sandie Shaw, who consequently covered the song for the UK market. Rush-released in September 1964, the song was premiered by Shaw with a performance on Ready Steady Go!, the pop music TV program. The first week after its release, the single sold 65,000 copies.[2] Shaw's version reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, spending three weeks at the top of that listing in November 1964, and that same month it debuted on the Billboard Hot 100.

Loved it! So many popular 80s songs had a similar synth/orchestral sound. Some became classics or hidden gems but have hard names to remember, such as 'The Promise' by When in Rome (Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack), ABC's 'The Look of Love' and Kajagoogoo's 'Too Shy.' They probably won't win any live stream polls, but all are awesome and highly recommended!

The version of this song that I heard first was in around 1964 by Sandie Shaw. I didn't then know that Dionne Warwick had recorded a year earlier. I love both versions. Now, this version is different to those two, but i like it. There is something about it that reminds me of "The Divine Comedy" singing National Express. (or do The Divine Comedy remind me of Naked eyes)

There was an episode of the old "Xena: Warrior Princess" show that went a little "out in left field." The whole episode was a musical, with the characters singing covers of a crapload of popular songs, and this one made the list. The character, Draco, had been put under a "love spell" and was obsessed with Gabrielle who, of course, rejected him because he's a villain, and this song was adapted into a sort of narration of his mental state due to the spell. And gotta admit, it was a pretty interesting take. You can see for yourself here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXOsaa2uja2iprc

I think because of their ages, they don't realize how groundbreaking and different post-punk new wave was. It was blowing our minds It was OUR music, it was from the youth and it was so different from the previous self-important 70s rock that was 'serious' music. New Wave was fun and frolicking and computery

This song would’ve been better to listen to with the official video because it explains what exactly the song is about. It’s about a journalist who misses an ex girlfriend who became a famous public figure but because he’s job is to report on famous people he has to attend her press conferences and see her pictures in the news papers and magazines. She sees pictures of her getting married and it hard for him to do his job
