Please provide a map, so we can know where in Kenya this is. The layout is good with a grid network and the streets are tree-lined and clean. I like the fact that Kenyans aren't fond of rusty tin roofs which is the case in other parts of Africa. I suspected Nakuru was wealthy, because I didn't see ANY street hawkers. I like the fact the wealth is based on agriculture not a mine that will become exhausted in less than 50 years. Kenya is making moves. I think I told you Kenyans are serious. Keep it up! Thank you.

Nakuru is one of the last white owned( substantial pop.) towns in Kenya aside from nanyuki, that's the cause for the grid network clean scapes ,(well urban planned), But am afraid as it transitions to a tier 1 city it would Loose it lustre as it was planned to be a mid tier city only.

It looks good on Ariel view but kwa ground, vitu ni different. Lol. I’m from Nakuru and go home every year from AZ. Nakuru has grown and the roads infrastructure are so much better. The plan though is awful. Service roads don’t make sense. Mnapitana na gari kwa road ya one way. I also wish that they included turning lane and had cyclists and pedestrians in mind. Otherwise, I love home. Can’t wait for my trip later this year.

It is just a misinformed belief that we can't build taller in Naks...It is way less dangerous than world cities like LA, SF, Tokyo all sitting in very geologically unstable zones. Anyway, you may talk of the cost of tech but my experience as an architect in Kenya points to love of theories as opposed to fact. We are already moving into steel-rc hybrid towers in Kenya and that is all that is needed with a few additional features. Earthquakes are as dangerous to a 2-3 floor building as they are to a 10-20 floor building if done in the simplest ways we build in Kenya. This means that Tower 1 (tallest in Naks) is at risk just as those 4flr flats you have seen there. It is all about being well informed on these matters. You can easily do 100 floors in Naks if you want..

Looks promising. There was the problem of sewage being let into the lake; hope it has now been resolved for this town is fortunate to sit right on a waterfront. Thanks for this realtime update.

Now that you are in Nakuru, please go and fly over the Menengai crater and the low Land Lands there. I am sure you can fly a km away and make really very good and different footage other than the concrete jungle.

One thing to note about the size of the buildings in Nakuru is that they can't go beyond 5 floors due to the weak ground largely caused by the volcanic features like vents under the town.

As a Nakuru resident who has seen buildings that are way taller than 5 floors, could it be that the corrupt owners bulldozed their way around what you have quoted above?

Actually plate tectonic movements and effects on one of the most active rift valleys have led to the rise in lakes. The rise is affecting other lakes too in the rift valley in Africa.

Plans are underway for Naks to be conferred with a city status. i.e the on coming airport at Lanet and all the major roads being done then boom we'll be having a fourth city.
